About us
United States Indo-Pacific Command (USINDOPACOM) is one of six geographic combatant commands defined by the Department of Defense's Unified Command Plan (UCP). As a geographic combatant command, USINDOPACOM is in charge of using and integrating United States Army, Navy, Air Force and Marine Corps forces within the USINDOPACOM area of responsibility (AOR) to achieve U.S. national security objectives while protecting national interests. The USINDOPACOM AOR covers more of the globe of any of the other geographic combatant commands and shares borders with all of the other five geographic combatant commands. The commander of U.S. Indo-Pacific Command reports to the President of the United States through the Secretary of Defense and is supported by multiple component and sub-unified commands including: U.S. Forces Korea, US Forces Japan, U.S. Special Operations Command Pacific, U.S. Pacific Fleet, U.S. Marine Forces Pacific, U.S. Pacific Air Forces and U.S. Army Pacific. These commands are headquartered in Hawai’i and have forces stationed and deployed throughout the region.

In his first article for U.S. Naval Institute's Proceedings as #USINDOPACOM Commander, Adm. Samuel J. Paparo highlights the indispensability of Aircraft Carriers. From mobility to precision strike targeting, Carrier strike groups work continually to enhance their defenses and operational tactics to counter emerging threats, while adversaries seek new methods to challenge this dominance. “The joint and combined force is a latticework of dynamic capabilities that maneuver in the physical and spectral spaces and deliver fires and effects in all domains, to present dilemmas at faster cycles than our potential enemies and along wide and disorienting geography and dimensions,” writes Paparo. “An aircraft carrier’s ability to maneuver dynamically, conduct strike warfare, and provide air superiority and sea control to defend and sustain joint stand-in forces render it indispensable.” Read more: https://lnkd.in/g-E3Nvae
