✨Reflecting on the Women of Project Management 2024 Summit✨ I recently had the privilege of attending the Women Of Project Management® 2024 Summit in New Orleans, Louisiana. Themed "Standing in Your Power," this summit was a transformative experience, led by pioneering women across diverse industries. I am deeply appreciative of the meticulous curation of this two-day event. The summit offered invaluable hands-on workshops and engaging panel discussions on topics ranging from health and wellness to leadership, advocacy, and the "manage up" approach for leadership support. In my career, I haven't encountered many conferences, but this was undoubtedly the most enriching one yet. Beyond the professional skills gained, I thoroughly enjoyed every moment. This summit was particularly focused on empowering Black women professionals. As a young Black woman new to project management, the timing of this experience was incredibly impactful for my personal and professional growth. Looking ahead, as I pursue my PMP certification and advance in my career, I am fortunate to have the support of my mentor, and a network of professionals cheering me on. I am also grateful for the sponsorship and backing from my organization, Hennepin Healthcare Research Institute. I extend my heartfelt gratitude to Women Of Project Management® and all the exceptional speakers who generously shared their insights and expertise. Exciting Research Highlight! Our latest article, "Motherhood Penalty and the Gender Gap in STEM and Medicine," has been published in the European Heart Journal! At Mothers in Science, we are dedicated to addressing the systemic barriers that mothers face in STEMM fields (science, technology, engineering, maths and medicine). Our research reveals that the motherhood penalty significantly contributes to the gender gap in STEM and medicine. With 34% of mothers leaving full-time STEMM positions after becoming parents, it's clear that change is urgently needed. We are committed to advocating for mothers in STEMM and driving systemic change through evidence-based solutions. From global surveys to policy proposals, our work aims to create an inclusive STEMM landscape that values diversity and supports work-life balance. As Director of the Research and Evaluation Data Analytics Core (REDAC) at Hennepin Healthcare, I am thrilled to announce the inaugural awardees of the REDAC Project Opportunity. These projects will be funded through Hennepin Healthcare Research Institute's partnership with the UMN CTSI. McKinney LaShawna: Support for new arrivals at Hennepin Healthcare Gautam R Shroff: Retrospective Evaluation of Clinical Outcomes and Management of Substance Dependence Among Patients with Repeat Cardiovascular Interventions for Infective Endocarditis Hafsa Hassan: Substance Use Disorder Trends and Outcomes Among Somali Immigrants at a Minneapolis Safety-Net Hospital Awardees will receive support from REDAC’s trained research staff, project managers, and data analysts to successfully complete their projects over the next 9 months. Findings will be shared across the organization and, if appropriate, through scientific publications.  Projects are spearheaded by employees across our campus and promise to make an impact on clinical workflows, health system policy, and patient care.
