I was chatting with an engg leader and a data platform architect about their data architecture and access layer for the AI assistants and agents they want to build out over the course of the next few years. it reinforced a key theme I’m seeing across various folks: “Do we take a microservices like approach to exposing data and biz logic in a domain or do we centralize it into a lake / warehouse?” “Zero Copy / No ETL is what we want (because it’s mostly point retrieval and method invocation - no analytics required in one place) but it seems just too damn hard to standardize and govern centrally….”
