The Harris County Sheriff's Office was founded in 1837 when Texas was still a republic. Today, Sheriff Ed Gonzales is responsible for 4,200 dedicated deputies, detention officers and civilian staff that comprise one of the oldest law enforcement agencies in Texas.

    Update: Ronald “Ronnie” Palmer Jr. has been located and taken into custody without further incident. He was located at a residence at the 12300 block of Ghita Ln. Thank you to the Houston Police Department and all public safety partners for their assistance. One of Deputy Esqueda’s closest friends just told Sheriff Ed Gonzalez, “Fernando would be so proud right now.” ___________________________________ Wanted: Ronald “Ronnie” Palmer Jr. We urgently need your help in locating Ronald “Ronnie” Palmer Jr., who is wanted for aggravated assault and is a person of interest in the capital murder of HCSO Deputy Fernando Esqueda. Ronald Palmer has tattoos on both arms, dreads, is heavy-set and tall, and was last seen wearing a black jersey with a “Bel-Air Academy” logo, black shorts, and a towel over his shoulders. On Wednesday, July 10, 2024, an aggravated assault occurred at 15634 Wallisville Rd, Houston, TX (Little Caesars) in East Harris County. Following this incident, a shooting took place near 13227 Italian Cypress Trail, Houston, TX (residence), involving the shooting of a Harris County Sheriff's Office Deputy.   • We mourn the loss of Harris County Sheriff's Office Deputy Fernando Esqueda (28), who tragically passed away after being shot while protecting our community. Deputy Esqueda was a five-year Harris County Sheriff’s Office veteran and served our community in the HCSO Violent Person Task Force. He was dedicated to protecting and serving the residents of Harris County. We pray with Deputy Esqueda's family, friends, and colleagues during this incredibly difficult time. Deputy commitment to duty and his sacrifice will always be remembered.
