For this year’s #NationalSafetyMonth, we have highlighted some team members who are committed to keeping our team safe and in top condition. Here’s a list of some of their top tips for promoting and spreading safety as a priority in the workplace.   ✅ Build a culture of safety that all employees recognize, respect, and follow. To do this well, engage employees at all levels of the organization to take pride in creating and maintaining a safe work environment.   ✅ Hold your teammates accountable. You don’t need to be a manager, or a team lead to remind your coworkers that they should be wearing proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and following all safety protocols.   ✅ Never become complacent when working in a role where safety is a prevalent concern. Many accidents in the workplace stem from complacency.   ✅ Practice safety habits anywhere and as much as you can. The more you focus on following safety protocols, the more it becomes a part of who you are.    The upkeep of safe habits is never-ending, and mistakes are unavoidable. By following these tips, you can work to minimize accidents, educate employees, and build a thriving culture of workplace safety!   #safety #workculture

Here at Hanes Industries, safety is an integral part of our culture. For this year’s #NationalSafetyMonth, we have decided to highlight some team members who are committed to keeping our team safe and in top condition. Meet Matt Jenkins, one of our Environmental Health and Safety Managers. Matt started working fulltime in safety around 20 years ago as he cares about people and wants to see them safe. To him, his position is more than just a job paying the bills. It’s a responsibility to help his team stay out of harm’s way and build habits to prevent future accidents. Robert’s career as a military police officer in the Army taught him the importance of attention to detail, organization, accountability, safety, and clean work environments. After the Army, he started working at Hanes as a shipping and receiving team lead before moving to the safety and audit team. When his manager retired, he applied for his position and has been leading our team as the EHS manager for the last 3 years. Helping people keep themselves accountable is important, and Robert likes having that responsibility on his shoulders.
