Earlier this month, The HCSO Hazardous Devices Unit's newest members, Sergeant Matt Sewall and Corporal Channing Glenn, participated in Raven’s Challenge. Raven’s Challenge is an interoperability exercise involving American and NATO allied Military Explosive Ordnance Disposal units, local PSBT (public safety bomb techs), and federal bomb techs from the FBI or ATF. Each training day, the team was presented with several scenarios based on real-world events. The goal of the scenarios was to have the teams work with their partners from other disciplines to learn different techniques and tactics and expand their knowledge and experience levels. These exercises are funded entirely by the U.S. Army and are held several times a year throughout the United States. Congratulations Sgt. Sewall and Corporal Glenn!! 💥 #HCSO #BombTechs #Training #PublicService

This week, the HCSO Regional Enforcement Narcotics Unit made the largest drug seizure in the history of our division. 81 pounds of methamphetamine are now off the streets of Hamilton County. Hamilton County Sheriff Charmaine McGuffey, Green Township Police Chief Jim Vetter, and Cheviot Police Chief Jeff Patton would like to inform the community that during interdiction efforts conducted by the Regional Enforcement Narcotics Unit (R.E.N.U.), eighty-one (81) pounds of methamphetamine were seized by detectives. A drug trafficking organization (DTO) out of California is responsible for supplying large quantities of meth to local DTO members operating in Hamilton County. As part of this ongoing investigation, Reginald Newton, male, age 49, of Lynwood, California, has been charged with Possession of Drugs and Trafficking in Drugs. The Regional Enforcement Narcotics Unit is a regional joint task force comprised of local investigators from the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office, Green Township Police Department, and Cheviot Police Department. The unit has partnerships and task force officers assigned to Homeland Security Investigations and the Federal Bureau of Investigations. #HCSO #DrugEnforcement #LawEnforcement #PublicSafety

Today we celebrated the raising of the Juneteenth Flag outside the Hamilton County, Ohio courthouse. Juneteenth is an annual celebration commemorating the freedom of all enslaved people in the United States. June 19, 1865 was the day that soldiers arrived in Galveston, Texas to share that the Civil War was over and slavery had been abolished. The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office, along with most other county offices, will be closed Wednesday, June 19 in observance of Juneteenth.
