We’ve expanded Actionable Cybersecurity Tools (ACT) again! Understanding threats is critical to modern cyber defense, and fortunately there are free and open-source tools available to help. Today we’re proud to announce we’ve added 300 free tools into a Threat Taming Tool Collection (T3C) within ACT to help organizations combat cybersecurity incidents. “This new collection adds significant tools to help organizations identify and respond to threats, including those who cannot afford a commercial service. Our Cyber Civil Defense (CCD) approach is to provide tools and services that enable a whole-of-society approach to cybersecurity,” Philip Reitinger, GCA’s President & CEO explained. Read more about T3C and visit the ACT wiki: https://lnkd.in/evC9FgNH #threatintelligence #CivilCyberDefense

Our new Internet Integrity Paper, “Expanding IoT Honeypots to Include IPv6-Connected Devices” investigates the possibility of including the #IPv6 address space in honeypot operations to, among other things, stop #malware at its source. We propose a way to extend ProxyPot, our proprietary honeypot technology, to detect attacks over SSH, Telnet, HTTP, and HTTPS, over both IPv4 and IPv6— a first of its kind. Key Takeaways: * IPv4 remains an easy attack vector and the main protocol used to distribute malware, for now. * IPv6 usage is growing and will become the preferred technology for certain attacks in the Internet of Things (IoT) space. * We must find ways to identify and mitigate IPv6-based attacks and stay ahead of the curve as IPv6-based attacks emerge and mature. * Our honeypot technology, ProxyPot, may be enhanced to detect attacks occurring over IPv6, and this would be a first of its kind. This paper is the third in a series of research projects done in collaboration with Microsoft to help make the Internet more secure, specifically related to Internet of Things (#IoT) devices attached to the Internet. Read the full report and learn more about our AIDE project to combat malware and unwanted Internet traffic. https://lnkd.in/e3dATX-Y
