Meet Melinda Monasterski, The McKnight’s Women of Distinction 2024 Rising Star honoree Melinda Monasterski always knew she would end up working in the healthcare sector. Ever since her first job as a certified nursing assistant in Connecticut at age 16, she has devoted her professional life to providing quality care to every person she serves. As an operational market president for Genesis Healthcare responsible for 28 skilled nursing and rehabilitation facilities across Rhode Island and Pennsylvania and ACCELErate Centers for the organization,today Monasterski runs an efficient operation. Specifically, centers in Rhode Island and Connecticut that were losing 11% margin subsequently increased to a positive 10.5% within nine months. Colleagues have said that her effective leadership inspires them to do their best every day. They cited her compassion, drive, empathy and willingness to listen as major positive attributes. No matter what obstacles are placed in her way, Monasterski always delivers results, they said. “Throughout her career, Melinda has always shown a quick ability to achieve positive results,” her nominators said. “She creates environments that achieve and sustain positive results by focusing on attracting top talent, the continuous development of her team, a commitment to removing barriers and a focus on team collaboration. This combination positions Melinda to retain staff in a challenging labor environment and sets her apart from other leaders within the industry.” Monasterski is a co-president of the Parent Teacher Organization, a Girl Scout leader for two of her daughters, and chair of a local annual Christmas party for children. She won the Friends of Education Award for her success in partnering with school districts to create career ladders for high school students as well as exposing them to caregiver roles. In 2023, Monasterski was named to a 40 under 40 award list for Connecticut. Yesterday, we celebrated another important milestone in Alzheimer’s treatment. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) granted traditional approval of donanemab, sold under the brand name Kisunla, for the treatment of people living with early symptomatic Alzheimer’s disease, which includes mild cognitive impairment and the mild dementia stage of Alzheimer’s disease, with confirmed amyloid plaques. A quick shout out for the phenomenal job done by Partridge House and Langdon Place of Exeter at the Hampton Area Chamber of Commerce Senior Beach Day last week. When one of our coworkers, Cynthia, faced an unexpected health emergency, she was left feeling scared and hopeless. The kindness and generosity made by each of the Michael R. Walker Foundation’s supporters gave her the assistance and comfort she needed. Last month, Cynthia was rushed to the hospital where she was told that she had suffered a stroke along with several brain bleeds. After a long stay in the hospital, Cynthia was sent directly to inpatient rehabilitation and then returned home with the help of in-home care due to significant complications from the stroke. Cynthia’s paid time off quickly exhausted and the loss of income was causing her more stress as she had no idea when she would be healthy enough to return to work. She was so overwhelmed with worry that she found it hard to focus on her recovery. That's when the Michael R. We want to take a moment to express our heartfelt gratitude to many New Mexico centers (Sandia Ridge Center, Ladera Center, Belen Meadows, Uptown Rehabilitation, Canyon Transitional, Rio Rancho and Skies) as well as the market team who went above and beyond to coordinate the admission and care for patients and residents of a neighboring non-Genesis facility that was evacuated this past Saturday. Since then, these New Mexico centers and the market team have worked seamlessly together to safely relocate 39 patients to seven Genesis-affiliated locations. They have truly stepped up to help others in a time of need, demonstrating compassion, commitment, and an ability to lead with heart.
