About us
Since 1872, GBCH&FM has served children and families throughout Georgia to give them a place to call home. Our residents often come to us from places of neglect, abandonment, and even abuse, but we get to care for them and show them they are loved. Our youth and families receive personalized care that is unique to their needs so we can work towards long-term resolutions with them. These plans, paired with daily activities, enrichment programs, and additional services, help ensure each client is on a path for success. We are also certified in using the Sanctuary Model of Care to take a trauma-informed approach with our kids and families to manage loss, promote healing, and create a hopeful future. As a member of our team, you can make a life-changing difference for so many youth and families. We are always looking for passionate individuals who want to directly serve our residents, whether as a Direct Care Staff member, Teacher, Nurse, Therapist, or in any other capacity that is needed. Each year, churches and associations from across the state participate in our Truck Loadings to donate items, such as paper products, non-perishable foods, and gift cards, to our campuses. These collections are a tremendous help in serving our children and families. The challenge of parenthood is to equip and empower your children for their next step in the journey of life. For foster parents, the challenge is the same but often within only a brief moment of time. As a foster parent, you have minimal control of your foster child’s next step of the journey, so you simply show them the love of Jesus in your home. Although this time may be short, we celebrate our Foster Parents who give large pieces of their life to support people for merely a moment in time. Did you know that at each of our campuses we have a Family Care Program? This residential program provides a place for mothers and their children to leave harmful environments of domestic violence or homelessness. We connect clients with resources to help with food expenses and medical care coverage. We host classes and workshops to learn additional skills that can be applied to their care plans as well as their everyday lives, such as cooking and budgeting. During their time with us, we love encouraging our families through devotionals and Bible studies, and work to connect them with local churches.
