Some of our Hamilton-based Gallagher team recently pedaled their way to the BNZ Corporate Challenge, which sees corporate teams from across the Waikato cycle around the Grassroots Trust Velodrome Cambridge. 19 members from across Gallagher competed in two events. Our Lead Engineer for Security, Kirsten Chapman, who was a key player in making it easy as riding a bike to take part, said it was an awesome experience. “It was great to see how far everyone progressed in a six-week training period, from not riding on the track at all, to comfortably riding above the blue. The best part of training is bonding with team members from across the organisation - people who you wouldn't normally talk to in your day-to-day job.”     A special shout out to the “Gallagher Sprocket Rockets” (Chris van der Loo, Erik Weijschede, Graham Johns and Kirsten Chapman), who won 1st place in the Mixed Team Pursuit Category! 

Here at Gallagher, it’s really important to us to take the time to connect our people to the bigger picture. Over two days last week, we held an Operations Expo at our Hamilton site, where our over 400 manufacturing team members visited four dynamic stands - each focusing on a key aspect of our work.   Through sharing knowledge and connecting as a team, we aligned as we continually work to drive efficiency, deliver customer satisfaction, and innovate for excellence in our operations. There was also plenty of time spent reflecting, celebrating, and thanking our people for everything achieved over the past few months!

We’re lucky to have our Hamilton site located close to one of New Zealand's top universities, The University of Waikato, and are proud to offer a number of opportunities to their students each year. Two ex-students and now members of #TeamGallagher, Lauren West and Benedict Brondial, have been invited back to guest lecture to third year design students at the University for the last two years. Both Lauren and Benedict completed the same degree, graduating with a Bachelor of Design. Benedict joined Gallagher as an intern during his third year of study, becoming a permanent member of Security’s Design Centre of Excellence when he graduated and now, just three years later, leads the team.       Lauren began her career at Gallagher as a UX designer, having just completed her final year of study. She spent four years in this role before being promoted to her current team lead role at the beginning of last year.     It's wonderful to see our team offering inspiration to upcoming design students and representing career pathways for Gallagher at the University. Thanks Lauren and Benedict for sharing, and thanks to the University of Waikato for inviting us to support your students.

Brent Main joined #TeamGallagher in May as Supply Chain General Manager at our Hamilton site. His team supports the creation of demand and supply plans to figure out what we’re going to make and purchase, when, and how we are going to send it to our customers. "I’m loving it at Gallagher. I’ve got an amazing team and the wider Gallagher community has been very welcoming. I already have a real ability to influence positive change." After work, you'll probably find Brent next to one of his eight BBQs. He built his own pizza oven (pictured below) and has been trying to perfect the art of making the perfect pizza. Brent's also a bit of an adrenaline junky. "I enjoy snow skiing, mountain biking, and motor racing. It’s a great way to stay busy outside of work and look after my wellbeing. We sat down with Hamilton-based Senior Project Manager for Animal Management, Martyn Chandler, to recap his 43 years with Gallagher.
