#ThankfulThursday - Gabriel's Angels recently received a generous grant from the Diane & Bruce Halle Foundation to support integrating mindfulness into group pet therapy in schools.

Thank you to the Community Foundation for Southern Arizona for hosting another wonderful BoardConnect in Tucson this week! This was a wonderful opportunity for Gabriel's Angels Chief Development Officer Tina Lopez, CFRE and Board of Directors Vice Chair Leah Friedenberg, MBA, CUDE to engage with the community and share information about our mission. Leah also serves on the Southern Arizona Community Council, a group of local leaders who are passionate about advancing our pet therapy programs to support children who have experienced adversity. The office for Gabriel's Angels has moved to the beautiful CASA coworking building, less than a mile from State Route 51 (Piestewa Freeway) for easy access as we continue our work serving children throughout central and southern Arizona! 🚗 Our new address is: 7878 N. 16th Street Suite 130-02 Phoenix, AZ 85020 Not only does this move eliminate unneeded office space and provide us with a more collaborative environment, it also offers beautiful areas throughout the building where we can connect with supporters like you on a more frequent basis. Thank you as always for your continued support of our mission to provide pet therapy to vulnerable children in our community! 💜

One of the Organizational Values for Gabriel's Angels is "Learn New Tricks" because we believe in the power of growth mindset and the value of learning. So, wanting to do something to give back to our supporters, we decided to try something new: a free quarterly Learning Series where we could all sit down together to learn about a topic we care about. We're excited to share that our first Learning Series presentation on the topic "Adding Healthy Years to Your Pet's Life Through Nutrition" with guest presenter Becci Scott, CHPHC, was a great success!  When we heard from many of our supporters who were disappointed they couldn't make it to the presentation, as well as a few attendees that evening who enjoyed it so much that they wanted to share it with family and friends, we decided to go a step further and also share it as a recording online: https://lnkd.in/gYTMUxdB. Congratulations to Gabriel's Angels Board Member Xavier Gonzalez on receiving the Impacto Award for his exemplary leadership on Boards of Directors for multiple organizations in our community! Xavier was honored at at last night's Siempre Juntos Latino Legacy Reception presented by the Hispanic Leadership Institute, where Valle del Sol President and CEO Mike Renaud and Director of Leadership Matthew Sotelo delivered welcome remarks and presented the awards to Xavier and his fellow recipients. Gabriel's Angels Chief Development Officer Tina Lopez, CFRE and Chief Programs Officer Cara Kiggins, EMPA attended the reception to celebrate with Xavier as he received this this wonderful and very well-deserved recognition. 💜

It's time to celebrate National Therapy Animal Day! 🐶🎉 Scientific research has shown time and time again that animals improve our lives in many ways, reducing feelings of stress, loneliness, and depression. A survey of family physicians found 87% reported their patients mood/outlook improved because of pet ownership, while another survey revealed that 96% of pet owners felt that their pet has had a positive impact on their life. This research is so strong that an increasing number of healthcare professionals recommend pet interaction as a way of improving mental health. Here at Gabriel's Angels, we've know firsthand that pets have a healing magic about them that can truly change lives.
