The past few weeks have been filled with headlines about the big 3 PBMs. They've been given free reign to constantly keep creating a complicated web of financial engineering all designed to extract more money out of the system and into the pockets of the PBMs. Rebates, GPOs, pharmacy networks, closed specialty pharmacy - none of this is designed with the patient as the priority, but as a way to increase revenues. In any other industry, the FTC would have taken action long ago, or at the very least blocked consolidation. But because of the opaque nature of these businesses, they've been able to consolidate and merge to exert an even tighter level of control. I’m glad to see the FTC under the leadership of Lina Khan diving deep into the way PBMs work and publishing their findings, as well as Mark Cuban shining a spotlight on their dubious practices. I’m optimistic we will see change, it’s the logical conclusion. But in the meantime, we desperately need to drive improvements in affordability and access for patients. That’s exactly why I'm. building Foundation Health. Let’s keep this momentum going. https://lnkd.in/eYpCSubd
