Read about Levi and Cora's first summer vacation without food allergy limitations! ☀️ "Both children went through TIP at FAI. Before vacations, I used to call restaurants in the vicinity of our hotel to see what restaurants had safe foods and we would always rent a condo or hotel with a kitchen and cook many of our meals there because of the stress of eating out with food allergies. Both kids are now in remission and we enjoyed our first vacation post graduation at Disney. I made dinner reservations without having to call or research menus. We were able to enjoy the week without worrying about allergies and stop anywhere to eat. It was amazing!" -TIP Mom, Holly After undergoing the Tolerance Induction Program for their allergies to peanuts, tree nuts, sesame, egg, and sunflower seeds, Levi and Cora achieved remission from their food allergies in 2023. This summer, the two siblings enjoyed their first vacation with food freedom! Thank you for sharing your incredible story. TIP graduates! Food Allergy Institute held its first-ever Taste of Remission event to celebrate the incredible achievements of our remission families last Thursday. Thank you to all who attended. It was truly moving to connect with everyone and see families freely enjoy a variety of foods without anxiety or restriction. This event served as a reminder of the importance of our mission and the hard work of our patient families. The simple joy of connecting with a community of your peers over food is simply priceless. Did you know? Epinephrine is light-sensitive and can degrade when exposed to extreme cold or heat. With temperatures rising, please be sure to keep your epinephrine auto-injectors (EAI) cool this summer and avoid leaving your injectors in the car. Generally, epinephrine should be kept at room temperature. Carrying your EAI in an insulated case can help ensure it remains effective in the event of an emergency. Most importantly, epinephrine should always be kept in pairs & on you for quick access. During an emergency, every minute counts! Epinephrine Storage Tips: -Keep at room temperature (around 68 - 77 degrees F) -Carry two autoinjectors with you at all times -Store in an insulated case (recommended) -DO NOT expose to extreme heat, cold, or direct sunlight (doing so can degrade the medicine) -Keep with safety cap and original carrier tube to prevent damage & accidental injection Share this post with your fellow food allergy families and comment below with your family's storage tips! . . . #epinephrine #foodallergyeducation #epipen #auviq #foodallergies #foodallergyinstitute

New research by U.S. scientists shows that a form of #immunotherapy allows children with a severe cow’s #milk allergy to consume dairy products without having a serious allergic reaction. In the study, published in the Journal of Allergy and Clinical Immunology, 214 children, aged 1 to 21, who’d had anaphylaxis to cow’s milk were given increasing amounts of biosimilar proteins - food proteins similar in structure to their allergens. This Tolerance Induction Program (TIP) significantly lowered harmful cow milk-specific IgE antibodies and diagnostic markers while increasing protective IgG4 antibodies in children with severe allergies. According to the study findings, all 214 participants were in remission from cow’s milk anaphylaxis for a year after TIP, which was proven to be both safe and effective. https://lnkd.in/eH7AHdfm Tanya Ednan-Laperouse OBE, co-founder of The Natasha Allergy Research Foundation, said: ‘These positive and important research findings show that the Tolerance Induction Program allows children with severe cow’s milk allergies to live without the fear and anxiety of a severe allergic reaction to cow’s milk. Research like this is key to finding new treatments for people with food allergies - and holds the potential to transform people’s lives. Our own Natasha Trial is investigating whether oral immunotherapy using everyday shop-bought foods can be used to treat children with cow’s milk and peanut allergies. The results will add to the growing body of scientific data which we hope will lead to a new era of treatments for people with food allergies.’ Read the full article here: https://lnkd.in/eX7XAkSu Food Allergy Institute
