Today, Food & Friends reached a historic milestone, delivering our 30 millionth meal to a neighbor living with a serious illness! This remarkable achievement is only possible because of the dedication of our volunteers and supporters. We delivered our first meals to neighbors in 1988, during the height of the AIDS crisis. During that first year, our meals were delivered by volunteers and donated by local restaurants. Every day, twenty dedicated volunteers distributed about fifteen meals to socially isolated neighbors diagnosed with HIV/AIDS.��   With your support, we've now expanded our reach to serve a diverse array of clients across a 6,172-square-mile area in D.C., Maryland, and Virginia. In 2023 alone, with the help of 4,000 volunteers, Food & Friends prepared and delivered 1.9 million medically tailored meals to more than 5,500 individuals living with HIV/AIDS, cancer, diabetes, heart and renal disease, and other serious illnesses.

As the heat index is expected to be over 100 degrees for yet another day, I want to give a huge shoutout to Food & Friends volunteer and staff delivery drivers. Today alone, they will be delivering over 9,000 medically tailored meals and medically tailored groceries--door to door, to the homes of neighbors living with a serious or chronic illness.
