#tbt We love leading upcycling workshops with URBN (Urban Outfitters, Anthropologie Group, Free People & Nuuly) and seeing everyone’s creativity run free! 🙌 URBN owns companies like Anthropologie, Urban Outfitters, Free People, and Nuuly and they partner with us to organize mending and upcycling workshops for their employees in order to increase their sustainability education and awareness. “The creative, hands-on nature of reuse also makes for a powerful tool in bonding our communities and increasing awareness about sustainability. We are so excited to be a part of American Circular Textiles' affiliate program!
New affiliate alert! : FABSCRAP is a New York City-based 501(c)3 nonprofit committed to solving the textile industry’s overwhelming waste problem. FABSCRAP partners with over 650 fashion, interior design, and entertainment companies to divert hundreds of thousands of pounds of textile waste per year from landfills. They provide diversion metrics back to each of their company partners, allowing them to track the weight, composition, and final destination of their collected “waste” in real time. FABSCRAP is the first and only organization to meticulously track pre-production textile waste, which remains a largely unregulated and unexamined waste stream, and to use this data to incentivize and empower responsible companies to mitigate their carbon footprints. They offer these salvaged materials back to the community at low or no cost, providing accessible, affordable, high quality, and eco-friendly supplies to local artists and students. To date, FABSCRAP has saved over 1.75 million pounds of fabric from landfill.

It’s finally here!! 🙌♻️ The fabric baler was just installed at our Brooklyn Warehouse and is up and running! This is a huge development for our small nonprofit because it will help us keep up with the volume of materials that we receive and process, and reduce some of our supply costs (and usage) over time. The baler also consolidates and packages fabric for easier organization and transport, which should allow us to pack in 2 TO 3 TIMES MORE material onto each truck, which also means less and more efficient trips! HUGE thank you again to Ana Maidique Bogusky for the generous grant that made this important step possible!! What’s next? We’re fundraising for additional equipment to complete our transition to the baler. ➡️ Swipe to see reusable bins we need to consolidate accumulating fabric scrap before it’s baled (we need 6 to eliminate our use of gaylords!) as well as a Walkie Stacker that will help stack our bales for transit. 🌱 Earth Month is every month! It’s not too late to help us continue to grow and evolve. YOU can help FABSCRAP flourish and still make a donation to FABSCRAP! #PurposeDrivenBusiness #SupportACause #EarthMonth #SaveThePlanetEarth #SupportNonprofits #ReduceWaste♻️ #FoundAtFABSCRAP

We wrapped up Earth Month with a sold-out customization workshop hosted by FABSCRAP at Reclectic, URBN’s latest endeavor to find more eco-conscious solutions for products that can’t be sold at retail. Attendees tapped into their creativity, thrifted accessories, and fabric waste to give new life to garments. 100% of ticket proceeds and 5% of Reclectic's day-of sales, totaling over $7,000, were donated to Fabscrap!
