Our third intern spotlight features Tucker Nance from Iowa State University. Tucker plays a valuable role in the Information Technology department at F&G.    We asked Tucker a few questions about his journey with us:    Q: How would you describe F&G’s culture in your own words?   F&G’s culture is one of its defining traits. I have the benefit of seeing the culture in action across multiple teams, and it really shows that F&G is a place where employees can be both productive and genuine.    Q: What is your favorite project or assignment you have been involved with so far this summer?  I’ve been working on understanding a new tool that our sales team will use to retrieve and display data for our agents. Right now, it’s a lot of parsing through documentation, but I look forward to implementing the tool and building a user-friendly app for the agents. 

F&G's actuarial department wasn't sure what to expect when they showed up at Glendale Cemetery to volunteer with City of Des Moines Parks and Recreation. They knew they'd be helping restore a historic cemetery and protect their community's history, but didn't expect how fun and fulfilling it would be. 80 F&G team members worked to reset gravestones that had sunken and were not able to be seen. Working in teams, the actuaries dug up and reset around 600 gravestones, making them visible again. As participant Scott Colby said, "the actuarial department is always ready to come together and help out the community - and have a good time doing it!" #DesMoines #Volunteers #TeamFG

We're so proud of our trivia team, who outscored, outwitted and out-answered the competition for a first place finish in the Des Moines Corporate Games trivia contest. F&G also soared to a 2nd place win in ultimate frisbee, enjoying friendly competition on the field with our fellow Des Moines frisbee-lovers. Nguyen is a valuable member of the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion team.     We asked her a few questions about her journey with us:    Q: How would you describe F&G’s culture in your own words?  A: I would describe F&G's culture as inclusive because the people here make sure everyone feels that they are important, and they bring value to the company. Everyone who works here is recognized.    Q: What do you like the most about working at F&G?   A: I like that everyone here feels like a team. Everyone was very welcoming when I came to the team. It feels like everyone is connected and that they have a strong bond. Because my team is welcoming, I enjoy going to work and meeting everyone. I feel valued here at F&G.
