Today, we honor Juneteenth, a pivotal moment in American history that commemorates the end of slavery in the United States. This day serves as a powerful reminder of the progress we've made, and the work that still lies ahead. Did you know: the Juneteenth flag's red, white, and blue colors symbolize the American flag, signifying that the formerly enslaved and their descendants are American. The star represents Texas, the last state to have slaves freed, and the freedom of African Americans in all 50 states, while the starburst signifies a new beginning. At Eximia, we are committed to fostering diversity, equity, and inclusion in everything we do. Let's come together to celebrate freedom and continue striving for equality and justice for all. Happy Juneteenth!

Exciting Announcement! Join us in extending a warm welcome to Todd Simmons, MD to the Eximia team. Dr. Simmons joins the Eximia Research team from Wake Research, where he had been a principal investigator since 2018. He is trained as a board-certified emergency medicine physician, and following residency at UC San Diego Medical Center began his professional career at a busy level II Trauma center. Today, he continues to practice clinical medicine in the urgent care setting.   He has a wide range of clinical interests and has participated in numerous clinical trials ranging from women’s health and contraception, dermatology, urology, metabolic, gastroenterology, neurologic indications and many novel vaccines targeting seasonal influenza, RSV, pneumococcal pneumonia, and other indications. As the COVID-19 pandemic would unfold, he was on the front lines caring for patients. He had the opportunity to participate in the original EUA clinical trials focused on vaccinations and therapeutics to help protect people against severe disease. Dr Simmons enjoys spending time with his wife and two young boys. On the weekends, you can find him on the sidelines of his son’s baseball games and keeping busy with the local cub scout troop.
