“Success means saving lives, period,” said Emma Fabian, associate vice president harm reduction services, Evergreen Health. “Communities must have a variety of tools and interventions that can appropriately meet people where they are, typically referred to as harm reduction.” Emma recently sat down with Patrick Kelly, producer, WNED[MC1] PBS, and was featured in the second episode "Understanding the Science, the Stigma, and How to Save Lives" as part of the "Overdose Epidemic" docuseries produced by Patrick Kelly, WNED PBS. The episode originally aired on March 29 and will continue to be broadcast. The episode underscores the vital role of addiction science, the importance of reducing stigma of addiction, and the necessity of harm reduction tools in addressing the overdose crisis. It features interviews by Emma Fabian, Dr. Joshua Lynch, a national leader in addiction medicine, MATTERS Network, and Dr. Gale Burstein, Erie County health commissioner. We're excited to share that our plans for CAS Ken-Bailey, the new healthcare hub coming to the corner of Kensington and Bailey Avenues, were approved during last night's City of Buffalo Planning Board meeting! As you can see from executive director of Community Access Services Kim Brown and chief strategy officer of Evergreen Health Justin Azzarella’s smiles, this is a very exciting step towards health equity in the 14215 area.   Kim and Justin have been working hard to share the CAS Ken-Bailey with the community, and recently spoke with WKBW about how the services the CAS Ken-Bailey project will bring, including a pharmacy, food pantry, and space for community organizations to lease, will help the community better meet their health and wellness needs. Kim says, “if we remove some of those barriers here, that's one less thing that someone has to worry about and they can care about their overall health.” Watch the full interview at https://lnkd.in/gDkeGErh

This past Friday, James Thompson, director of health and wellness and Mehida Torres, Pantry Coordinator for Evergreen Health joined New York Attorney General Letitia James, FeedMore WNY and Buffalo Prenatal Perinatal Network, alongside Tabatha McNab, patient of Evergreen, to discuss the challenges Western New Yorkers faced as a result of Walgreens Co. illegally raising prices of baby formula during the 2022 shortage. Thanks to the Attorney General's investigation more than 4,600 cans of baby formula were delivered to Western New York and now are available to the community through various agencies.    As a member of the Food Bank of WNY, Evergreen Health's food pantry is open to eligible patients of any service at Evergreen and any resident of the 14201-zip code. The pantry supplies groceries, in addition to necessary supplies for babies like formula and diapers.    The Evergreen pantry at 206 S. Elmwood uses a drop-in model. Walk into the lobby during pantry hours and complete the short intake with our pantry representative in order to receive groceries. Eligible patients and 14201 residents can receive grocery assistance every 30 days.   Pantry hours: Mondays: 9:30 – 11:30 a.m. Tuesdays: 1 – 3 p.m. Thursdays: 1 – 3 p.m. Fridays: 9:30 – 11:30 a.m.
