Continuing our STRIVE 2024 internship spotlight to answer some questions about their time at Events DC, we have Sarah Klepech of the Sales and Convention Management department! Why did you choose STRIVE? ⭐ I chose to join the STRIVE Internship because I knew it would be an incredible experience and opportunity to move forward in my career. Additionally, when I learned how much involvement Events DC has with the DC community, I was even more interested in this position. Favorite part of this internship? ⭐ My favorite part of this internship so far is both the variety in people and events. I have met many incredible and successful people so far, which enhances my inquisitive nature of Sales and Event Management. There is also such diversity in the events that we host. Every day is something new and exciting. What are you looking forward to regarding STRIVE? ⭐ I look forward to understanding the process of obtaining clients and comprehending the behind the scenes of putting an event together. I am fortunate enough to be able to shadow and help execute 4 events throughout my internship, all incredibly different from the other. Being able to watch the event from start to finish is something I am looking forward to the most. Favorite quote? ⭐ "A comfort zone is a beautiful place, but nothing ever grows there" What animal best represents you? ⭐ I believe a dolphin represents me the most. This is because they are known to be curious and sociable, along with being extroverts. This would also be an accurate description of myself. #EventsDC #SummerInterns #WashingtonDC

Building a clean DC 🛶💚 A highlight of the Clipper Ventures // Clipper Round the World Yacht Race stopover in #WashingtonDC was the Anacostia Green Boats project! Taking their sailing talents to the Anacostia River, Clipper crews collected trash from the water using kayaks. Once back on land, the trash was sorted and prepared to be sent off for data analysis. This data will be used to inform environmental policy in the District. Thanks to Clipper Race for supporting our local community during their time here and to Living Classrooms and the DC Department of Energy and Environment for helping to make this initiative happen. #EnvironmentalPolicy #PublicPolicy #ClipperRace

Continuing our STRIVE 2024 internship spotlight to answer some questions about their time at Events DC, we have Sanai Anderson of the Community Engagement department! Why did you choose STRIVE? ⭐ I chose to join the STRIVE internship because it allowed me the opportunity to grow professionally and sharpen my skills in networking, communication, and teamwork. While, exposing me to experiences that will help me enhance in my professional career. Favorite part of this internship? ⭐ My favorite part of this internship so far was having the chance to shadow my mentor. When I was able to shadow my mentor, I got the chance to assist him with room checks and equipment checks for an upcoming event. I am grateful for this experience because it allowed me to have firsthand experience on one of the many phases of event planning/management. What are you looking forward to regarding STRIVE? ⭐ I am looking forward to seeing one of the projects that I am currently assisting with come to life later in the fall. Favorite quote? ⭐ "Hard work beats talent when talent don't work" What animal best represents you? ⭐ A Dolphin because they are fun and energetic animals. #EventsDC #SummerInterns #WashingtonDC

Why did you choose STRIVE? ⭐ Out of all of the options, this one caught my attention for a few reasons. I saw more potential for experience that would be relevant to my career goals. As well as the potential for future career growth and opportunities. Favorite part of this internship? ⭐ I have really enjoyed my projects and overall getting involved so far. I've had a great time gaining experience in what I am interested in. The work environment and employees are also an added positive that have made my experience great overall. What are you looking forward to regarding STRIVE? ⭐ I am looking forward to more projects and anything else that I can get involved in. Of course, I am looking forward to all the fun events planned. I am also looking forward to seeing my current projects come to fruition. Favorite quote? ⭐ "Think smarter, not harder" What animal best represents you? ⭐ I would say a butterfly does. I believe that I am adventurous, independent, and curious about the world around me. I also love how their wings look. It was also my nickname growing up. #EventsDC #SummerInterns #WashingtonDC

A summer celebration of adventure and sail ⛵️ Over the weekend, #EventsDC hosted Clipper Ventures // Clipper Round the World Yacht Race Fleet Week at The Wharf! From cultural performances to live art to public boat tours, it was an incredible activation of Washington, DC’s waterfront. Thank you the Events DC team and partners across the city who collaborated to bring this event to life.
