Our July 2024 issue is here, and gracing this month’s cover is Amira Sajwani, founder and CEO of PRYPCO, co-founder of Amali Properties, and Managing Director of Sales and Development at DAMAC Properties. As the daughter of the entrepreneurial icon that is Hussain Sajwani, Sajwani is proving that she’s a chip off the old block when it comes to her entrepreneurial prowess. “I was told that I have potential that I need to tap into, full-stop,” Sajwani shares. “And that has given me a lot of confidence.” This issue also sees Omar Almaeena and Safwan Modir share the story of how they came to be the entrepreneurs behind Redsea Camel Company and Fatha Productions, as well as the stars of the Netflix show, Camel Quest. Plus, Lebanese entrepreneur Rudy Younes tells the tale of how he became the founder of two startups -Nasmati Care and Trop Cosmetics- that are currently hitting six-figure-revenues. This edition also features a recap of the third edition of the Mastercard Women SME Leaders 2024, which took place on June 6, 2024, in Dubai, UAE. We also look back at the 2024 edition of the Cartier Women's Initiative staged by French Maison Cartier at Shenzhen in China in May, as well as this year’s edition of Vision Golfe staged by Business France in June, which saw record attendance from stakeholders from France and the GCC. This issue also examines three enterprises -Rewaa, Telgani | Rent a car, and Unifonic- enrolled in Saudi Unicorns الشركات المليارية, a national program in KSA by Ministry of Communications and Information Technology of Saudi Arabia, National Technology Development Program, and Misk Foundation that helps high-growth tech companies reach unicorn status. Plus, London Business School's Jane Khedair shares what goes into the making of an ideal business plan, Jigar Sagar lists lessons learnt as a serial entrepreneur, and we also go behind the scenes of UAE-based Shorooq Partners’ first investment in Türkiye, Roamless. Contributors to this month’s issue include Sunset Hospitality Group’s Iliana Orietta, Khimji Ramdas’ Nailesh Khimji, and Ideation Labs’ Dipika Mallya. The matter of addictions in the Middle East is one of sensitivity, but one we cannot ignore. Understanding forms of work addiction and balancing the needs of mental health has been a big focus for my work with Montreux-based Clinic Les Alpes which Bacchus Agency supports here in the region. Thank you to Aby Sam Thomas at Entrepreneur Middle East for facilitating this insightful piece. We wanted to highlight work addiction across the UAE - with insight from the Head of Quality, Innovation & Research - Brittany Hunt. Brittany has highlighted 9 key areas here for us to take note of. I recently traveled to Clinic Les Alpes in Switzerland and met with the talented team, specifically Brittany Hunt - to learn more and see the impressive work they do. The team of experts at the Clinic really opened my eyes to how they can support those who need it here in the UAE. Not everyone is ready to share their personal challenges openly, but Clinic Les Alpes is perfect for those who really need privacy to empower their recovery and growth.
