Having a baby is an exciting time in life, filled with eager, and maybe nervous anticipation. But despite the many advancements in prenatal care and medical technology, sometimes babies come before their expected delivery date. Such a turn of events can bring a mix of joy and fear, not just in the hospital, but also when the baby is ready to go home. In our latest blog, Encompass ESIT South Team Supervisor Kim Hall, MS, OTR/L, and Encompass Family Resource Coordinator Sarah Johnson, RD, share how our Early Support for Infants and Toddlers (ESIT) team provides home-based support to help caregivers navigate this important transition.

As part of Global Volunteer Month, this week is Volunteer Appreciation Week. We are grateful for the many volunteers who give their time and talent – often finding creative ways to contribute their skills. Inspired by Occupational Therapy (OT) services his daughter was receiving, particularly through our 𝐀𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐮𝐭 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐭𝐨𝐜𝐨𝐥, Chad Egger put his carpentry skills to work, making Astronaut boards that children can use to continue therapy at home.
