The Early Learning Coalition of Orange County is an organization that develops and administers programs to ensure children ages birth to five experience the benefits of a developmentally appropriate, research based early care and education services while respecting the role of the parent as the child's first teacher. To that end, our organization provides a child care subsidy for Orange County's working poor families, so that they are able to access quality early care and education programs. The Coalition also administers the Voluntary Pre-kindergarten (VPK) program which provides Orange County four-year-olds a free opportunity to prepare for kindergarten.

The ELCOC held its first series of, “It’s Ok To Play in VPK” workshops. The training is based on the Florida Early Learning and Developmental Standards and builds on the participant’s knowledge of the standards as participants learn why play is critical to the development of young children and how to intentionally teach and reinforce the standards through developmentally appropriate everyday activities.
