It is when you know you can count on the people around you to help make a difference.    For us, fun doesn't mean easy, fun means being able to look back and see that each team member has had a hand in making a critical impact on Dunmore's continued growth. A big shout-out to everyone who led and supported the SMED event at our Brewster facility. There is no better way to flex your continuous improvement mindset.

We had a fantastic time catching up with Lauren Dunckley, our HR Intern, about her experience at the Steel Partners Intern Summit. She shared, "Engaging with a diverse array of interns and professionals to discuss their career paths and goals was an enriching experience; and the event as a whole fostered personal growth, expanded my career outlook, and enhanced my professional network." A big thank you to Steel Partners Holdings for hosting the Summit and investing the resources and energy into shaping our future leaders.

Today, we honor and celebrate the incredible career of Terry Jones, who is retiring after an outstanding 41 years of service at Dunmore. 🤗 Terry began his career as a slitter operator and forged a historic path through roles such as production supervisor, QA Supervisor, Plant Manager, and, for the last ten years, Quality Manager. Throughout his time at Dunmore, Terry has been a cornerstone of our company's success, making countless contributions that have shaped our operations and culture. Bryan Wilson, who has worked with Terry for almost three years, shared, “Terry brought me to Dunmore as his successor, believing that I would play a vital role in Dunmore's growth. Throughout my time with him, Terry has been a wealth of knowledge, a great mentor, and a trusted advisor. Most importantly, he has been a friend. He will be missed, but he has prepared me and the team for continued success after his departure. While the road may start a little rocky, he has given us the tools to smooth it out.” We are profoundly grateful for the legacy Terry leaves behind and the countless lives he has positively impacted. His dedication and hard work have set a high standard for all of us, and his presence will be deeply missed. Please join us in wishing Terry a wonderful and well-deserved retirement! 🌟

After a remarkable 45-year career at Dunmore, #1 Philadelphia Phillies fan, Mike Forsythe, retired from the company. Mike started at Dunmore in 1979 as a slitter operator and excelled in all sorts of essential roles over the years including scheduling, warehouse supervision, inventory control, and purchasing. Reflecting on his career, Mike shared, “I will forever be grateful to the Sullivan family and feel very fortunate to have worked for such a great organization alongside a fine group of people.” Mike’s presence and contributions have been invaluable to our organization. His dedication to our Steel Sports core values— teamwork, respect, integrity, and commitment— has inspired many of our team members to lead by example and hold each other accountable. Paul Sullivan, VP of Operations, shared, "Mike brought a creative passion to the work he did at Dunmore. As an example, Mike took it upon himself to review the films we held in inventory and proposed the expansion of the stackable racking system to include custom sizes to increase the density of our roll storage and reduce the time to pack work-in-process materials. Or as Mike would tell it, 'This is just common sense!'" 🐕 Meet Shannan Paynter 🐕 When shannan paynter, Training Coordinator, is not updating Dunmore’s Standards of Work and supporting training, she's making an impact on our community by rehabilitating dogs rescued from fighting rings across Pennsylvania. Shannan's passion for helping dogs began when she worked with the police. During a sting operation, she was tasked with buying a healthy dog but was instead moved by a malnourished, skinny puppy she couldn't leave behind. She rescued that puppy, who remained by her side for 13 years. Now, Shannan works with eight dogs she is helping to rehabilitate at a nearby shelter, alongside her four rescued dogs and two cats. Among her rescues are two 10-year-old sisters saved from abuse, a Malamute-Husky mix found on the street, and several others who have faced severe trauma. We are incredibly proud to have Shannan as part of our team. Her story embodies true integrity and commitment, values we seek to uphold at Dunmore. Her actions prove that small daily efforts to improve can have an immense impact. 🔵 A Focus on Wellbeing in June🔵 Today, during our daily morning meeting, Kristi Slifko, our Customer Service Representative, reminded the Dunmore team that June marks Men’s Mental Health Awareness Month. Kristi shared insights about the primary factors contributing to men's mental health crises: work, family balance, and finances. Historically, men’s mental health has been stigmatized, and it remains a challenging topic for many today. Ronn Cort, our President, provided valuable tips on recognizing potential mental health struggles using the acronym H.A.L.T (Hungry, Angry, Lonely, Tired). He advised, "If you find yourself experiencing one of these feelings, take a moment to think about how to address it. If you’re feeling more than one, it might be time to seek support." At Dunmore, safety is our top priority. Our Safety Committee meets monthly to discuss not only the physical safety of our coworkers but also concerns that impact overall health and wellbeing, including mental health. As a member of the Safety Committee, Kristi announced plans to implement an on-site wellness program, inspired by our partner company, OMG, Inc.
