Storytelling is at the heart of everything we do at Disney. Our stories entertain and inspire, and sometimes spark some pretty serious fandom (you know who you are!). We are fortunate to tell these special stories across many different platforms - big screens, small screens, theme parks, video games, products, and of course books. A recent example is Percy Jackson and the Olympians, a beloved, fantastical book series, written by Rick Riordan and published by Disney Publishing Worldwide, that has captured audiences around the world with its magic, excitement and heart for nearly two decades – and we are thrilled that it is now streaming on Disney+. The show had an incredible debut and brings to life the story of “The Lightning Thief,” which has been a New York Times Best Seller for 13 years with over 100M copies in print worldwide. The Disney College Program hosted a successful "Get to Know You" panel with Disney Publishing, followed by a Q&A hosted by author Alexandra Monir! College students met with Disney Publishing Cast Members from marketing, finance, editorial, as well as diversity, equity and inclusion to hear how they all work together to bring works of art to life. We are thrilled to announce that the Washington Nationals featured the book "National Geographic Kids 5,000 Awesome Facts About Animals" as part of their summer reading program! Meet Nick Balian, Illustration Manager for Disney Publishing Worldwide! Over the past 6 years, Nick has helped create many books at Pixar Animation Studios. Nick’s favorite part about his job is collaborating with our talented editors, designers, artists, and the Pixar filmmakers. These collaborations generate authenticity in the many illustrations Nick and his team create. As a devoted Disneyland fan, Nick has also written and illustrated the Little Golden Book, “Little Man of Disneyland: A Change of Luck”, the sequel to the 1955 classic! #DisneyCastLife
