With a heavy heart, we are saddened to note today the passing of Representative Donald M. Payne Jr.. As a champion for New Jersey public school students for over a decade, we want to take a moment to honor Rep Payne Jr.'s lifetime of service.

"Ten years ago, voters trusted Democrats on education far more than they trusted Republicans—in fact, Democrats held a double-digit advantage over Republicans on voters’ trust on education. Today, that advantage is gone. To put it bluntly, voters no longer see Democrats as the party of education." DFER CEO Jorge Elorza to Education Week. https://lnkd.in/gJ45zeP6

DFER CEO Jorge Elorza in a new Education Week article by Rick Hess: "What has struck me the most is the extent of the crisis in public education and the lack of urgency among political leaders to address it. Public education is the bedrock of opportunity in America, but too many of our academic institutions are simply not making the grade. Kids are not getting the equitable opportunities they deserve—and there is too little being done to change this." https://lnkd.in/gJ45zeP6

Notable findings from a recent national poll - we see these trends in MKE as well. “Specifically, voters no longer view Democrats as the party that will educationally prepare kids for future economic success. The perception that Democrats “care” about education but do not “deliver” on education is shared across various demographics, including Independents and core Democratic voters.”
📊 New polling reveals Democrats have lost their historic advantage on education. Voters want quality, #PublicSchoolChoice options, and high-quality public #CharterSchools. Democrats must offer a vision that delivers results: #EducationReform #DFEREdTrends https://bit.ly/3vLUs5n

Honored to have been part of a dynamic panel discussion alongside Florida State Representative Christine H. and Jorge Elorza former Providence Mayor and CEO of Democrats for Education Reform at the @NewDEALLeaders Ideas Summit 2024! 🌟 It was enriching to exchange ideas and insights with such passionate leaders. I got to speak on how Massachusetts is making Early Education and Childcare more accessible for working families, the importance of early college programs, and our efforts in making Community College free for everyone. Proud to collaborate with my colleagues in the MA Senate where many are leading on these issues and many more important issues that affect our communities. Let’s continue collaborating for positive change! #NewDealLeaders #ideassummit2024 #phoenixma #masenate #mapoli #pavelpayano

House Bill 1363 in #Colorado seeks to undermine the state's successful public charter schools, which primarily serve marginalized and low income students. HB1363 gives veto power to unelected citizens, strips authority from CO's Board of Ed, and threatens the very existence of public charter schools. We stand against this harmful bill and urge its quick defeat for the sake of students' access to quality education. #StopHB1363 #EdReform https://lnkd.in/dXUq2AYy
