Our recent teambuilding experience at Tree To Tree Adventure Park was a resounding success! The day was filled with collaboration and camaraderie as we navigated the ropes course, tackled aerial obstacles, and soared through the ziplines.

Say hello to Delap summer interns max johnson and Grace Hutson of Portland State University, and Joshua Chang, Ethan Bullock, and Lana Davis of George Fox University. Ethan and Lana's internships will focus on Delap Wealth Advisory LLC. Max says, "Throughout all of my interactions with Delap employees I felt very supported. I could tell from the start that this was a company that would take the time to ensure I succeeded. Delap let me know right from the start that all interns are assigned a buddy to help them adjust and succeed during this new experience. I know that there will be a lot for me to learn this summer, but I am reassured knowing that I will have a supportive team behind me." Max's two favorite outdoor activities are disc golf and hiking. His favorite disc golf course is North Bonneville, and his favorite hike is the Manitou Incline in Colorado Springs — only one mile but straight up. 🥏🥾 Grace says, "Deciding to #GoDelap was easy after seeing their collaborative culture, strong work-life balance, and commitment to professional growth through mentorship and building relationships. Every interaction I had while going through the interview process confirmed for me that Delap was the perfect place to build my career and grow as a professional!" Grace's current favorite hobby is playing pickleball. She also enjoys taking long walks outdoors while listening to podcasts or country music 🏓🎵 Josh says, "I decided to #GoDelap after attending one of the information nights held at George Fox led by Matthew D. T. Hilton. I had been encouraged to go by one of Delap’s former partners, Adam M. Puckett, and was even promised pizza. So along with some bribery, I felt that Delap’s close-knit community including their summer program was a great fit for me to learn and grow." Josh loves playing and watching soccer — especially his favorite team Tottenham Hotspur in the English Premier League ⚽ Ethan says, "Delap stood out to me for their core values (teamwork, adaptability, and engagement), which show me the firm's drive to succeed and push one another. The moment that solidified Delap as the firm I wanted to intern for was when I asked the lead DWA partner Jared Siegel, in my interview what some of the near future goals for the firm were. His response: To win!" Ethan is on the football team at George Fox and enjoys watching sports. His favorite teams are the Oregon State Beavers, Los Angeles Rams, Portland Trail Blazers, and Cincinnati Reds 🏈 Lana says, "I decided to #GoDelap because of the core values, people, and location. I have always been a part of some sort of team since I can remember, so having that be a core value really stood out to me. I knew I wanted to join the team after meeting Elizabeth Roach in the interview process. She was so kind and spoke so highly of the firm." Please welcome four interns who are joining us this summer: Trejan Flennaugh of Loyola Marymount University, Madi Franco of University of Portland, Jase Derry of University of Arizona, and Carson Stamback of University of Tennessee, Knoxville. Tre says, “Last summer I was able to make connections with a lot of Delapers and got the sense that they genuinely wanted to invest in me and help me grow as an accountant. This year I hope to build on those relationships both personally and professionally and continue to gain experience in the industry.” Tre is very passionate about sports – especially basketball – and music. He even got to go to the Grammys this year. 🏀🎤🎵 Madi says, “I decided to #GoDelap because of the community it offers. Everyone I’ve met at the firm has been kind, welcoming, and genuine. Their positive and supportive environment is something I am excited to be a part of. One of the things that stood out to me was their commitment to creating a team. I became a part of the team six months ago, and I have been invited to their team functions ever since then.” A fun fact about Madi: She loves marine biology! As a sophomore in high school, she helped her chemistry teacher start a marine biology course and got to take the class her senior year. "One of my favorite activities is tidepooling," she says. "I always look for my favorite animal, a nudibranch!" 🌊🦀🦪 🐚 Jase says, "I decided to #GoDelap again this summer because of the outstanding culture that Delap has established for its employees. Throughout my internship program last summer, I felt like I could reach out and talk to anybody within the firm to ask questions, get advice, or just chat about life. The people I interacted with on a daily basis made me look forward to coming to work each day and I gained valuable life experiences." A fun fact about Jase: He buys, collects, and sells sports cards. "I am a huge fan of football and basketball, and my collection allows me to get more immersed in the world of sports while also teaching me valuable lessons about conducting a business and keeping track of financials," he says. 🏈 🏀 Carson says, "I decided to #GoDelap again because of the work environment. The people I was able to work with allowed me to have a great experience and gain a lot of knowledge. On the first day of working at Delap, I felt welcome into their community, and I know I wouldn't be able to replicate this anywhere else." Say hi to four interns joining us this summer from Linfield University: New interns Mikayla Dunham and Laurel Quinn, and returning interns Caitlin Hillman and Sophia vanderSommen! Mikayla says, “After hearing how highly past and current interns, as well as professors around campus, spoke of Delap, I knew I had to attend the Meet the Firms event on campus. A key moment for me in choosing to #GoDelap was speaking to Matthew D. T. Hilton at this event and again during my interview. Matthew was outgoing and engaging, I knew from that moment that Delap not only had the resources to develop my education but great people to learn from as well!” Mikayla loves to go camping with her family. If you ever roll through a campground on the Oregon Coast and see more than 20 people gathered around a campfire, chances are it's her family. 🏕️🔥 Laurel says, "I decided to #GoDelap because everyone I met from Delap was so kind and welcoming, and I was excited to experience both Tax and Audit during my internship. One moment that stands out to me was during the meet-and-greet time before the second round of interviews at the Delap office. When we were eating breakfast and chatting with current Delapers, I felt like I was already a part of the firm." Laurel's grandparents own a homestead in Alaska, and she visits them every year. She loves seeing the beautiful scenery and wildlife – she even saw the Northern Lights once during the winter. ⛰️🦌 Caitlin says, "I decided to #GoDelap again because of the overall experience I had last summer. Through both my tax and audit rotations, I was able to work with my buddy and get a better understanding of both service lines. I also really enjoyed the partner 1:1 meetings, which allowed me to learn not only about Delap, but who the partners are as people! I am so excited to be back in the office and have a summer of connecting, learning, and growing with Delap!" In addition to her internship this summer, Caitlin will travel to Holyoke, Massachusetts to visit family and celebrate graduating from college. "I used to spend every summer there growing up, and I am so excited to visit again!" she says. ✈️ 🧳 Sophia says, “I decided to #GoDelap again because of the amazing connections I made with people at Delap this past year. Joe Seifert is a huge reason I have decided to come back to Delap; he has been a huge supporter of my softball team and went the extra length last summer to make me feel like I belonged at Delap. I am excited for this summer because I learned so much during my last internship. I'm excited to see what the case study audit sessions are like; I think that will be a great learning experience for me." Sophia is a proud Linfield softball player. The team had an undefeated season in conference, going 44-0 and recently traveled to Marshall, Texas for the NCAA Division III National Championship. 🥎🏆 Welcome, Mikayla, Laurel, Caitlin, and Sophia! Give a warm welcome to four interns joining us this summer: Grace Gordon and Andrew Czernik of Oregon State University, and Jordhen Wangchuk and Chris Sanford of Washington State University Vancouver! Grace says, “My decision to #GoDelap was easy thanks to the people at Delap. From the start, it was clear that they truly value and care about their team. Every step in the recruiting process was met with warm welcomes and genuine interest in who I am. Speaking with Matthew D. T. Hilton on multiple occasions, he would consistently reference our past conversations, showcasing the firm’s attentiveness and authenticity. I am very proud to say that I am an intern for Delap!" Grace loves to ski and has been hitting the slopes since the tender age of 3. She also started teaching skiing professionally at age 15. ⛷️ ❄️ Andrew says, “I’m excited to return to #GoDelap again this summer because I got to meet and begin building relationships with so many members of the team last year, and I am hoping to be able to continue that this summer! I also felt that it was an incredible opportunity and environment to learn about the profession as everyone is extremely helpful. I am looking forward to another summer of learning!” Andrew's top two hobbies are racing dirt bikes and running. "I spent my free time this winter training for my first marathon which I completed in Bend this April," he says. He's looking forward to picking another race to do in the future. 🚴👟 Jordhen says, "I decided to #GoDelap because their great reputation seems well-deserved. The things folks have said and the glimpses I’ve had make Delap worth a long commute to Portland! They also look after the community; I saw Jill Tichenor, a senior manager and one of my interviewers, at a volunteer event I attended. She and the other Delap folks were great, and I look forward to working with them in the future!" A fun fact about Jordhen: He loves to write. Last year he developed his journalistic writing skills when he worked as a copy editor at WSU Vancouver's student newsmagazine, The VanCougar. 🖊️ 📰 Chris says, "The biggest reason for choosing to #GoDelap was the community. There were many people I met going through the interview process, and everyone was genuine and I could really connect with; I felt I was talking with someone whom I have known for quite some time. With the knowledge I have gained through my academic journey, I want to help the company and all the friendly people I have met the best I can."   One of Chris's biggest passions is cooking. At age nine, watching Iron Chef Masaharu Morimoto piqued his interest in Japan and Japanese food. Years later while Chris served in the U.S. Navy, he lived in Japan for nearly four years. Give a warm welcome to Alexander Alberte, Emma Wagner, and Trevor Jones, three interns joining us this summer from the University of Oregon! Alex says, "I chose to #GoDelap as it is an amazing opportunity to learn about the different areas of accounting. I very much appreciate the emphasis of connection at Delap. I knew I wanted to join the Delap team during the recruitment process, as I truly resonate with Delap’s values of engagement, teamwork, and adaptability. I have enjoyed meeting other incoming Delap interns and am very excited to learn from the Delap community this summer!" Alex is Spanish and speaks the language fluently. His favorite travel destination is Galicia, Spain. "I enjoy the similarities the region has with the Pacific Northwest," he says. Alex is also a huge Oregon Ducks football fan and enjoys watching games at Autzen Stadium in Eugene. 🗺️🦆🏈 Emma says, “Right away I could tell how welcoming the Delap team was. After the interviews it was even more apparent how much they cared about fostering a good environment. Along with the amazing team, Delap offers a unique experience to learn about tax and assurance. Finally, after interviewing and meeting more of the Delap team I knew I wanted to #GoDelap." Fun fact about Emma: She has a goal to visit all the Major League Baseball stadiums – and so far she's visited 11. Her favorites have been Oracle Park in San Francisco and Wrigley Field in Chicago. ⚾ 🧢 Trevor says, “I decided to #GoDelap because I could tell through the recruiting and interview process that they truly care about their employees’ well-being and professional development. Every conversation I had with a Delap team member made me feel comfortable and welcomed, and by the end of the interview process, I knew that Delap was where I wanted to be.” Trevor loves being in nature and exploring new places. Welcome to our Delap 2024 Summer Interns! This amazing group of 20 will complete an eight-week program, and we're so excited for them to get started.
