Herzog has teamed with Dana B. Kenyon Company, who serves as the project’s dedicated building subcontractor, and TYLin is the lead designer. The heavy maintenance facility will be constructed within Amtrak’s Penn Coach Yard around ongoing Amtrak and SEPTA yard operations. The facility is designed to inspect, test, and perform maintenance services and cleanings for train sets of various sizes. It will provide Amtrak crews with state-of-the-art maintenance and repair, inspection, and cleaning facilities for Amtrak’s existing and new Amtrak Airo and Acela train fleets. This week #DBK officially broke ground on the 77-acre site for IKO North America's asphalt shingles facility in Clay County, which will bring over 100 jobs to the area. The facility will be fully operational on September 1, 2025. This exciting project will include a 118,000 sf rack storage warehouse, 112,000 sf manufacturing building, 800 sf shipping office, 10,000 sf 2-story office building, five-level process tower, granule silo enclosure for 16 freestanding limestone silos, hot oil processing building, modifier building, multiple on-site asphalt storage tanks, and 600,000 sf of on-site concrete pavement and roadways. This will be a must-watch project!
