Benzodiazepines can be addictive, especially with prolonged use. Withdrawal can be severe, including agitation, anxiety and even seizures. When benzodiazepines and opioids are used together, they can enhance each other’s effects, leading to respiratory depression, sedation and even overdose. The risk is particularly high when both drugs are taken recreationally or without medical supervision.
