On June 12-13, Contra Costa Health and local hospitals tested their emergency plans with a countywide drill. The event simulated a disaster to evaluate our response to sudden surges in emergency patients. Thanks to the collaboration of community organizations, skilled nursing facilities, fire departments, and 100 volunteers, the drill was a huge success! 👏This annual exercise keeps our community safe and prepared. Thanks to everyone who contributed! ❤️ #EmergencyPreparedness

Congratulations to Sally Reader-Matthews, this year's winner of our annual Ruth Pease Award! The award is given by the medical staff to a non-physician who exemplifies the dedication of Ruth Pease, a longtime CCH nurse. Sally is a medical social worker at our health centers in Antioch and Brentwood and has worked for the department for 10 years. One of her coworkers who nominated her wrote, "Sally is a dedicated advocate. She is compassionate, tenacious, creative with her efforts and she loves to help people." Join us in congratulating Sally!

October is #NationalPedestrianSafetyMonth. Join us in making roads safer for all. In 2021, a pedestrian was killed every 71 minutes and injured every 9 minutes in traffic crashes. That’s why the Contra Costa County Vision Zero team is working hard to change these stats. Our message: Slow down for our families. Get there safely. Look out for our banners on buses and at 11 elementary schools. Learn more at https://lnkd.in/g_ZTrAJu.
