We are proud to announce that Constellis’ Centerra Officer Roberto Velediaz, along with five other New Mexico Army National Guard Soldiers, heroically rescued four elderly residents from their home in Ruidoso, NM, on June 29th. Following recent wildfires, the area faced severe flooding, posing a threat to many lives. While these officers were removing heavy debris from a nearby creek, four elderly citizens signaled to them indicating distress. The soldiers acted quickly and were able to safely move the citizens to higher ground before water levels surged to over 6 feet. Officer Velediaz exemplified what we stand for here at Constellis by risking his own safety to protect and assist those in need. We commend their dedication to serving not only their country, but also their communities, and we couldn’t be prouder of Officer Velediaz’s selfless actions. June 10, 2024, marked the 15th anniversary of the sacrifice and passing of Officer Stephen Tyrone Johns. 15 years ago, Officer Johns died heroically protecting the lives of the innocent at the Holocaust Memorial Museum. We continue to remember our fallen Constellis and Centerra officers and commemorate Officer Johns' ultimate sacrifice that evening of June 10, 2009.
