After spending a week at Augmented World Expo, the gestures on Samsung’s Galaxy Ring seem an awful lot like a stepping stone for future glasses. Story here: https://lnkd.in/e-Dk7Hk7

If you like it, you should put a ring on it. (Apologies to Beyoncé) This week, Samsung announced the Galaxy Ring, which tracks sleep, heart rate, activity and more. It even has a cool gesture that controls your phone’s camera. Samsung has a unique opportunity to set the benchmark for a still emerging smart ring category. While smart rings aren't as popular as smartwatches yet, models like the Oura Ring and Ultrahuman Ring Air have grown in popularity as the wearables industry focuses more on health and wellness tracking. I had the pleasure of chatting with fellow tech enthusiast Anne-Marie Green on CBS about the hottest trends in fitness and health tracking, and I took an entourage of smart rings and watches with me. Bring on the smart rings! CNET Watch the segment here: https://lnkd.in/gwCTkheT

With the release of the Galaxy Ring, Samsung had a choice: 1) Make this health wearable available to everyone, regardless of what phone they use, and hope it'll conjure interest in other Galaxy devices, or 2) Make it exclusive to its own ecosystem. It chose the latter. The Galaxy Ring can only be paired with Android devices running the Samsung Health app, and a Galaxy phone is required to access all the features. I wasn't shocked by this decision, but I was disappointed. I'd been holding out hope that the company would play nice, rather than take a page out of Apple's exclusivity book. Instead, it appears Samsung is using the Galaxy Ring to fortify its own walled garden. My full thoughts for CNET here: https://lnkd.in/gKtThTX3 #Samsung #SamsungUnpacked #SamsungGalaxy #GalaxyRing

Samsung's summer Galaxy Unpacked event is less than a day away and plenty of rumors are swirling around what'll be unveiled at the July 10 keynote. It's very much possible the company will introduce new foldable phones, earbuds and smartwatches, and perhaps most notably, more about the highly anticipated Galaxy Ring. We also expect to hear updates about Galaxy AI, the phone-maker's collection of AI-powered software features. Stay up to date with our CNET experts on the ground in Paris and those reporting remotely in our live blog 💻 https://lnkd.in/eyicEFFG You can watch the Samsung Unpacked livestream on Samsung’s official website, the Samsung Newsroom and their YouTube channel, starting at 6am PT/9am ET on Wednesday, July 10. #samsung #samsungunpacked #tech #ai #artificialintelligence #mobile #smartwatches #galaxyring

I love showing the behind the scenes of my photoshoots and this trip presented a LOT of opportunities as I drove a Lotus EV 4,000 miles across the continent. It was also one of the most challenging videos I've ever put together as every element of the production was a solo project -- not an easy task when I also had to average about 8 hours of driving per day. Video production was never something I did and it's been great to put the skills I've learned over the past few years into use here.
