The CCA-led Clean Cooking & Climate Consortium just released a NEW methodology. This methodology for crediting emissions reductions from cooking projects is the first such methodology to apply to all cooking transition scenarios. This work makes it possible for all project developers to use the same rigorous and trusted methodology when quantifying carbon emission reductions from #CleanCooking projects – specifically, those that would not have occurred without #CarbonFinance revenues. I am grateful to be part of a small but mighty team tasked with the honor of developing the first ever carbon methodology for quantifying emissions reductions from cooking projects applicable to all cooking transition scenarios. A new agreement has been signed with HomeBiogas, a #biogas system provider in #Kenya, to scale up access to #CleanCooking solutions for small-scale farmers in rural and peri-urban areas. With €2 million of results-based financing provided by Modern Cooking Facility for Africa, the company aims to install 34,000 biogas systems, benefitting up to 170,000 farmers in Kenya by the end of 2028. Congratulations to Eni for officially kicking off its #CleanCooking Program in #Angola! Following an agreement signed with the Government of Angola in July 2022, the initiative aims to support families living in rural and peri-urban areas across 7 provinces with access to more energy efficient, reliable, and #sustainable cooking solutions. The project has already involved 50,000 people and aims to reach more than 2 million people by 2030 while advancing #health, #GenderEquality, and #biodiversity outcomes and supporting employment opportunities in the country. CCA is thrilled to announce the successful graduation of the third cohort of participants in the Women in Clean Cooking (WICC) Mentorship Program! This 12-month virtual program, in collaboration with Sustainable Energy for All (SEforALL) and hosted by GWNET: Global Women's Network for the Energy Transition, provided training and mentorship to 89 women from Africa, Asia, and the Caribbean, marking the program’s largest cohort to date.
