Leawood, Kansas, a suburban community in the Kansas City Metropolitan area, is located in Johnson County, approximately 10 miles southwest of downtown Kansas City, MO. It covers 14.7 square miles and resembles an elongated rectangle running north/south. Interstate-435 crosses through the City and is just north of the center of the community. The City is bordered on three sides by the cities of Overland Park and Prairie Village, Kansas and on the fourth by Kansas City, Missouri. The City’s land area is approximately 75% developed and growth is expected to continue in the future.

Summary of the Position: The Concrete Supervisor plans, coordinates, and supervisors the concrete maintenance and repair of City streets and roadways and assists the department in the development, implementation and evaluation of street and stormwater maintenance. The Concrete Supervisor oversees training the assigned personnel in safety, proper equipment uses and general work procedures. Minimum Requirements:  Must have a minimum of ten (10) years of experience in public works maintenance, street construction, stormwater management or equivalent experience with two (2) years of supervisory or lead experience. Equivalent experience may include an Associate's degree in Construction Management or related degree with eight (8) years of experience with one (1) year of supervisory or lead experience. Three (3) years of supervisory or lead experience preferred. Supervisory or lead experience includes completing performance appraisals, directing employee's daily work assignments, or evaluating the crew assignments. Must have or be able to achieve APWA Winter Maintenance Supervisor Certificate. Additional public works maintenance supervisory training and certification or equivalent, preferred. Must have a Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL). Your daily tasks may include: ·        Performing general maintenance tasks such repairing, replacing and maintaining the City’s concrete and asphalt foundations.  ·        Assisting with repairs and upkeep of roadways, walkways, sidewalks, curbs, storm water basins and more. Collecting and disposing of litter to ensure a clean and inviting environment for visitors. ·        Collaborating with fellow team members to prioritize tasks and complete assignments efficiently. We are seeking individuals who are eager to learn about asphalt, concrete, stormwater and street maintenance in general to join our team. The Public Works Maintenance team plays a vital role in keeping the City of Leawood’s streets maintained for everyone to enjoy throughout the year.  Public Works Maintenance Workers crews start the day between 5:30am – 7am and work until 2:00pm -3:00pm with some overtime. Individuals will be exposed to all different elements of what the Public Works Maintenance division does, ranging from replacing concrete, applying payment markings, repairing asphalt, filling cracks and potholes and cleaning of storm drains. The sky is the limit and your career as a Public Works Maintenance Worker at the City of Leawood would be up to how you make it!
