Every year, the City Administration, our elected officials, and community members come together to prioritize how our local government will spend money in the next Fiscal Year. On July 1, the new fiscal year started following a successful vote from City Council, and we're excited to share more about the work we're lifting up over the next year and beyond. Here's how we're investing in our strategic priorities: 📈 Growing economic opportunity by investing more than $8M to support the growth and development of our neighborhoods. 🏡 Supporting thriving neighborhoods by addressing quality of life issues and ensuring that Cincinnatians are safe in their homes. ❤️ Continuing to foster public safety & health by building a holistic strategy to keep Cincinnatians safe, including achieving full budgeted staffing for our Police & Fire departments and expanding our Alternative Response to Crisis program. 🤝 Providing excellent and equitable service delivery by improving our 311 service system. 💵 Creating fiscal sustainability by increasing revenue and transitioning to a performance-based budgeting approach. Check out cincinnati-oh.gov/budget to learn more about our priorities for spending and the process that brought us here!

We're making big strides to create a sustainable future for Cincinnati, including our focus on green jobs! One of our goals to support this work is to train 4,000 people in Cincinnati to take on green economy jobs by 2028. So what are green jobs? They are positions in businesses that produce goods or provide services that benefit the environment, conserve natural resources, or make production processes more environmentally friendly or use fewer natural resources. Cincinnati is celebrating the completion of this 100MW solar farm that powers our city government and thousands of homes. This is a project that has spanned two mayoral terms, two administrations, and a global pandemic. But our climate work is not done! Cincinnati now seeks partners for our next clean energy solutions.  Please find our RFP here and bring your best ideas: https://lnkd.in/ewjB9J74 Of course a project of this scale has many to thank: Deep thanks to former Mayor John Cranley, current Mayor Aftab Pureval, and Councilmember Meeka Owens for seeing this through from idea to reality. The City team included Michael Forrester, John Juech, Andrew Garth, Robert McCracken, Kevin Frank, Larry Falkin, Andrew Sampson, City Manager Sheryl Long, Virginia Tallent, and Billy Weber. The project is an example of a successful public-private partnership, with a team that was built by Ron DeLyons. We had tremendous strategic and technical support from Carla Walker, Emily Barkdoll, Sonya Suter, Alek Suni, Rushad Nanavatty, Jacob Corvidae, Stephen Abbott, Ali Rotatori, Lori Bird, Jeff Wedgeworth, Rich Bohon, and more!   #ClimateAction #CleanEnergy #Solar #RenewableEnergy #Innovation #RFP
