Li was appointed the Paul Hindemith Principal Viola Chair by CSO Music Director Emeritus for Life Riccardo Muti, and after several performances as guest principal viola, she will officially take on this new position effective September 2024.

The Chicago Symphony Orchestra family mourns the loss of Charles Geyer, who served as a member of the trumpet section from 1966 until 1978.

As CSO Fellows, violinists Gabriela Lara and Jesús Linárez and bassist Olivia Reyes rehearse and perform with the CSO at least 20 weeks per season, receiving training and mentorship to help them become better equipped to win auditions with top U.S. orchestras. Hear from these three musicians about their experiences in the program — and congratulations to Gabriela Lara, who has won a position with the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra!
