We are excited to share some fantastic news from the Agronomy department at Anthem Country Club. A warm congratulations to Abel Dejtisakdi, a recent Penn State graduate, on his remarkable achievement. Abel has successfully completed his Certificate in Turfgrass Management, bringing his expertise and passion to the forefront of our operations. Abel’s journey in turf management began seven years ago at Anthem Country Club. Starting as a crew member, Abel quickly ascended through the ranks due to his dedication and skill, from Spray Technician to his current role as Assistant Superintendent. Under the mentorship of James Symons and Matt Simonson, Abel enrolled at Penn State University in spring 2022 to further his education, striving to provide the best golf course experience in the Las Vegas Valley. Attached is a write-up from Abel himself, sharing his inspiring journey and expressing gratitude towards his mentors, colleagues, and family for their unwavering support. This prestigious honor celebrates Tommy's 40 years of dedication to the world of golf, 33 of those years being at Sylvania Country Club. Under Tommy's mentorship, 112 caddies have been awarded the Evans Scholarship, representing a monumental $11 million in tuition and housing. The Caddie Hall of Fame recognizes the vital role of caddies in golf and honors those like Tommy who have used their platform to help improve lives. His induction places him among legends such as Jack Nicklaus, Tom Watson, Gene Sarazen, Charles “Chick” Evans, Steve Williams, Jim “Bones” Mackay, Peter Ueberroth, and Joe LaCava.
