Research in improving maritime safety and betterment of human factor are the core of CEMS (Centre of Excellence in Maritime Safety) work. We are delighted to host Kenneth Lim from Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) and Singapore Maritime Institute (SMI) in SP. Our team shared our research journey and our collaboration with SMA to achieve the desired outcome. The ultimate goal is to ensure the ease of industry adoption. We shared some of our digital product positioned to enhance the proficiency of seafarers proficiency in handling of alternative marine fuel, increasing their confidence in ship handling via remote access to our ANRS and tool that captured the errors made by trainees in a navigational exercise, amongst the list of our sharing. #innovation #digitalisation #technology #maritimesafety #proficiency #alternativefuel
Assistant Chief Executive (Industry & Transformation ) at Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA)
There's a saying "口说不如身逢,耳闻不如目见" (Learning through experiencing exceeds learning through words). This is my takeaway this week as I learned first hand through the experiences of 3 innovator groups. (1) #Experience from #researchers striving to drive science based innovations. Together with my Singapore Maritime Institute (SMI) and Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) colleagues, we have learned much from Singapore Poly CEMS (Centre of Excellence in Maritime Safety) and SMA colleagues and facilities. The use of AI, Simulators, VR/AR, coupled with the passion to increase the safety of vessel operations including new fuels, will spurred greater safety technology #innovations. (2) #Experience from #startups and Venture capitalists striving to transform our industry. Together with my PIER71™ colleagues, we learned much from the passionate entrepreneurs, founders and inventors on their journey in translating technology to solve the challenges of our industry. I learned more about the solutions, the opportunities and the obstacles each face, and the positive mindsets they have to stay committed to their clients, staff and their families. (3) #Experience from industry veterans striving to integrate innovations for our industry. Last evening, together with many guests, Singapore Shipping Association council Akanksha Batura Pai, DMET and I have the privilege to attend the 25 year's anniversary of Master Systems and interacted with the passionate founder and CEO Mr Roy Jacob on his journey to build up his venture with dedication, love and core values. It's a great learning experience for me and I wish them another 25 years of excellence! I am thankful for this fruitful week and look forward to another awesome week ahead.#maritimeSG
