The Florida Keys Aqueduct Authority (FKAA) is making significant strides to maintain safe drinking water by moving forward with a cutting-edge PFAS treatment system. In preparation for the EPA’s new National Primary Drinking Water Regulation (NPDWR) for PFAS, FKAA enlisted Carollo to develop a comprehensive study exploring cost-effective treatment methods to reduce PFAS at the J. Robert Dean Water Treatment Plant (WTP). With phase two of the project recently underway, Carollo is designing a state-of-the-art nanofiltration facility at the WTP. This facility will incorporate advanced treatment technologies to reduce PFAS and a new injection well to dispose of byproduct water. Additionally, Carollo will provide construction management services to support the project. Learn more on FKAA’s proactive measures to stay ahead of the EPA’s 2029 NPDWR compliance deadline and their commitment to maintaining water quality: https://ow.ly/WEoR50St6Wa

Since opening in 2022, the City of South Jordan’s award-winning PureSoJo DPR Demonstration Facility has garnered interest and recognition across the state and country, including national awards and high-profile visitors such as U.S. Senator Mitt Romney. Last month, the Carollo-designed facility turned more heads as part of a featured stop during the prestigious Engineering and Public Works Roadshow, a partnership between the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC), the American Public Works Association, and the American Society of Civil Engineers to spotlight meaningful and transformational infrastructure projects and investment. Read more about this exciting project, and why the chair of ACEC’s Executive Committee called PureSojo “…a shining example of what can be achieved when vision, innovation, and community collaboration come together.” https://lnkd.in/eaJ5d2kT

Congratulations to Gabriela Ford, the 2024 Bryant L. Bench Scholarship recipient! Gabriela is a graduate research assistant pursuing a doctorate in environmental engineering at the University of Central Florida. Her academic journey is remarkable, having completed dual bachelor's degrees in Environmental and Civil Engineering, with a minor in Chemistry, at the same university. At UCF, Gabriela joined the Water Quality Engineering Research Group (WQERG), where she collaborated with Central Florida municipalities on bench-scale corrosion control and coagulation studies. Currently, she is assisting the Town of Jupiter's Water Utilities (Florida) with the implementation of a 65-gallon-per-minute reverse osmosis pilot plant, treating a blend of brackish groundwater and nanofiltration concentrate. At Carollo, we are dedicated to supporting and nurturing the next generation of engineering talent. Join us in celebrating Gabriela's accomplishments and her bright future in the water industry!
