Carle Health is excited to introduce a brand-new fitness space to the Addiction Recovery Center (ARC) for Carle Health Greater Peoria patients at Carle Health Proctor Hospital. “Fitness plays such an important part in recovery,” Robert Lizer, DO, Medical Director of the ARC, said. “When people are at their low and struggling with addiction, physical well-being is an integral part of the recovery process. It helps with positive neurobiological development and promotes healthy living physically, mentally and spiritually.” In attendance at the grand opening last week was the primary donor, Sheryl, and her dog – Fletcher – whose loyalty and sweetness, she says, was the main inspiration behind her desire to support the project. 🐕🦺😊 Story: https://lnkd.in/gTW7zQJN

Mark Adair says he tries to live healthy – eats right, lifts weights and does cardio exercise - so he was surprised when a lump showed itself in his upper side while he was doing pushups. He went to the Carle Sports Medicine walk-in clinic in Champaign for a free evaluation and it was there that he saw a physician who knew they needed to take quick action. His providers immediately ordered tests, images, and a specialist’s review. A week later he had the grapefruit-sized lump, caused by stage 2 diffuse large B cell lymphoma, removed and it took just 28 stitches. He underwent four chemotherapy treatments for 12 hours and now, no cancer is evident. “His prognosis is excellent. Mark has tolerated the treatment very well.
