Exciting to see the debut of Isla Intersections, an affordable housing development in South Los Angeles by Holos Communities. This groundbreaking project has transformed a former traffic median into a five-story building, utilizing repurposed shipping containers to create 54 apartments for individuals who were previously homeless. One of the participants in our Growing Diverse Housing Developers program – Logan O'Phelan, the Director of Operations at Holos – is involved in the development. Witnessing the success of affordable housing developers is truly inspiring! “They [small businesses] need two things: access to capital and access to customers. Ultimately, a CDFI is far more likely to give a loan to that local small business than any large institution because they know this person.” - Wally Adeyemo The Momentus Capital branded family of organizations was happy to welcome U.S. Deputy Secretary of the Treasury Wally Adeyemo and Virginia U.S. Senator Mark Warner to our Virginia office. The insightful discussion with local entrepreneurs and mission-driven lenders, including our President and CEO, Ellis Carr, emphasized the critical role of bipartisan government support for CDFIs like us in bolstering small businesses across the nation and the communities they serve. Thank you to everyone who participated in the event and made it possible. Together, we can transform access to opportunity to help business and communities thrive. The Momentus Capital branded family of organizations was honored to host Deputy Secretary of the Treasury Wally Adeyemo and U.S. U.S. Senator Mark Warner in our Virginia offices for a roundtable with local entrepreneurs and mission-driven lenders. They led a discussion with CDFI leaders — including with our president and CEO Ellis Carr — about how continued bipartisan government support for organizations like ours can help small businesses nationwide and the communities we serve. It was an insightful conversation that underscored the critical role that organizations like ours play in driving economic growth and fostering entrepreneurial success. “CDFIs have always been a passion to me; it is a critical part of our financial system and frankly, we need to do so much more.” - U.S. Senator Mark Warner “As we talk about giving businesses the fuel they need to succeed, we try to provide a range of tools to help them succeed.” Ellis Carr Thank you to everyone who participated in the event and made it possible. We appreciate your support and partnership to continue fostering wealth-building opportunities for entrepreneurs across the country. In line with our commitment to offer flexible financing for affordable housing, we closed a loan for a property in the East Hollywood district of Los Angeles. When completed, this development will be transformed into 100% affordable housing for people living with low-to-moderate incomes. The project’s sponsor, Thrive Living acquires strategically located properties in urban markets that experience significant housing affordability gaps. This project also had support from A. Walker & Co., a private equity fund that provides equity to emerging developers focused on sustainable and affordable housing investments.
