A native of northern Virginia, he studied international economics and philosophy at the University of Virginia before beginning his career as a financial insurance underwriter just before the 2008 Financial Crisis. Transitioning into community banking, Darren has excelled in helping small businesses achieve their financial goals, specializing in government contracting, telecommunications, and digital infrastructure technologies. Darren's dedication extends beyond banking; he has served on several local boards and was honored as a 2016 40 Under 40 honoree by the Leadership Center for Excellence. A 2017 graduate of The Virginia Bankers Association School of Bank Management, Darren is committed to community service and professional excellence. In his free time, Darren enjoys traveling, scuba diving, golfing, attending Washington Nationals baseball games, and spending time with his wife Emily and their two children, Fiona (6) and Owen (3). Jill brings over two decades of broad-based industry experience to her role. As Vice President, she provides financing to government contracting companies in the DMV, helping them navigate complex financial landscapes and achieve their strategic goals. Prior to joining Capital Bank, Jill was VP and Relationship Manager in the Government Contracting division at Atlantic Union Bank. Jill began her 27-year commercial banking career at a local bank in her hometown of Burlington, VT, and has held positions in underwriting, portfolio management, and financial analysis within both large and small banks. Jill’s career has included work with the U.S. Department of Treasury in the development of the $1 billion CDFI Bond Guarantee Program, HUD, and Navy Federal Credit Union. Passionate about financial literacy, Jill has created specialized financial awareness programs for local non-profits and is the founder of Brave Solutions Financing, a financial advisory company aimed at educating disadvantaged populations. She is also the author of ‘Financial Abuse – The Invisible Weapon’ published by Women on The Fence. Jill holds a BA in Psychology from The University of Vermont. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family and practicing vinyasa yoga with her fellow yogis.
