A week-long camp and year-round community serving families affected by cancer.

About us

Camp Kesem was founded at Stanford at the turn of the century to support the children of parents fighting cancer, an often overlooked population. Since then, it has spread to over 100 chapters at universities across the United States. Camp Kesem Stanford is run by a full-time director and eleven students. The week of camp is made possible by 64 volunteers, all students from Stanford University. We serve over 100 families and about 140 campers each year. In addition to hosting a week-long sleepaway camp for the children we serve, we offer services to families throughout the year, including quarterly reunions, attending camper events, and supporting parents via babysitting and other housework/errands. Camp Kesem Stanford is fiscally sponsored by our partner and co-founder, Hillel at Stanford. Kesem in Hebrew means "magic," which is what CK Stanford provides its campers every year they come to camp.
