“Learning is a lifelong journey. It does not stop on graduation day. To succeed at anything you do, it will require constant study, inquiry, and repetition: all lessons and skill sets I developed during my days as a Cal student.” David Julian ’18 graduated with a degree in political science. While at Cal, Julian interned at the US Department of Justice and continued to work there full-time after graduation. In 2022, Julian left California for Quantico, Virginia to attend Marine Corps Officer Candidates School. Julian is a United States Marine Corps commissioned officer and is training as a Naval Aviator. During his career switch and move across the country, the DC Chapter of the Cal Alumni Association provided a community through events like picnics and football watch parties. Julian’s time at Cal instilled a sense of responsibility, perseverance, collaboration, and drive. #YoungAlumni #UCBerkeley PC: David Julian

“When I look back at my undergraduate experience at Berkeley, I think: how electric and transformative! I felt that same spark of connection and power when I recently got to return to campus to be part of an event hosted by JAWA (Japanese American Women Alumnae. I love connecting with current students and alumnae of many generations. There's no limit to what we can do together! I loved my experience as an undergrad at UC Berkeley, and I continue to love it as an alum. I recently got to revisit campus at a Japanese American Women Alumnae event. It was so special! Sitting in one room we had students and former students who had experienced Berkeley over at least 90 years. Together, we are the past, present, and future, we are unstoppable!” - Nikiko Masumoto ’07 Interested in joining an Alumni Chapter? Visit: https://ow.ly/h6oa50SIB1T. PC: Stephanie Fujii

“The main life lesson that Cal instilled in me was true independence. The amazing city of Berkeley and huge student body of Cal fostered my true sense of self by discovering what set me apart. Never be afraid of being a small fish in a big pond!” Delaney Degner ’24 graduated with a degree in history and a minor in Spanish. While at UC Berkeley, Degner served as Internal Vice President of Phi Alpha Delta, worked at Edmond’s Cafe, and was involved in various organizations such as Bowles Hall, the Prisoner’s Literature Project, and the Criminal Psychology Decal. She attributes much of her success to her experiences in historical research, extracurriculars, classes, and alumni relationships. In the upcoming fall, Degner will be attending the USC Gould School of Law to continue her path of becoming a lawyer. Currently, Degner is working on publishing her Senior Thesis, preparing for law school, and working a summer job at Dutch Bros coffee! 🐻🎓 #YoungAlumni #UCBerkeley PC: Courtesy of Delaney Degner
