It’s no secret! I love the Outdoors! This past weekend I had the chance to give back volunteering with the Western States 100-Mile Endurance Run Trail Crew doing trail work building a new trail up on a 8,000 foot elevation ridge within the Granite Chief Wilderness in the Sierra Nevadas. Climbing mountains, rock bars, moving heavy boulders, camping, backpacking, pea-sized heavy hail, heavy rain, lightning, loud thunder, smashed feet, and sore backs all in the name of building new trail alongside a crew from the U.S. Forest Service and the California Conservation Corps! What a great experience. Hard work and learning from the back country crews who are living out there off the land for 14 weeks straight this summer. Definitely gives me a much greater appreciation meeting the folks out there working tirelessly and experiencing the blood, sweat, and blisters that goes into building and maintaining the trails we all enjoy. I’m grateful for this opportunity to give back and I look forward to being able to enjoy this completed new trail in a few years!
