With a quarter of the US workforce Gen Z, we've gotta know how to appeal to recent college grads in our recruiter efforts. This video describes the first three of seven key factors to employ as we recruit this talented and growing group of team members. (Remaining 4 factors forthcoming.) Now's an opportune time to adopt these key elements. #genz #collegegrads #workforcedemographics #recruitingcollegegrads #recruiter #brakkeconsultin #brakkesearch #animalhealth #pethealth #livestock #veterinarymedicine

Nifty little summary of how emerging companies in our industry can attract top talent. Worth two minutes! Keep in mind that recent research indicates that work-life balance is the #1 motivator for candidates. How are your culture and corporate brand reflecting this? How are you communicating this to candidates? Invest a little time in optimizing the messaging of your company's work-life balance. https://lnkd.in/dwGUwn-y #recruiter #animalhealth #pethealth #livestock #veterinarymedicine #brakkesearch #brakkeconsulting #emergingcompanies #entrepreneurs #innovation #animalhealthinnovation

Proactive vs Reactive recruiting: The differences are mostly intuitive, ditto the results and recommendations. For best results, recruit proactively. Even if you're a small company with only occasional roles to fill, the article frames a mindset and set of priorities that are well worth the 2-3-minute read. Two more points. First, if you don't have a "talent" team, you'll likely need to do much of this yourself. Take it in pieces; learn as you go; network with colleagues and recruiters. Second, develop a relationship with your recruiter. Be a good client. That means staying informed and keeping your recruiter informed. You don't need monthly conference calls, but the occasional base touching works there, as it does with all partners. And work with recruiters who truly specialize in your industry/vertical. https://lnkd.in/e3d_jc3U #recruiting #recruiter #talentmanager #talentprofessional #hiringmanager #proactiverecruiting #proactivity #animalhealth #pethealth #livestock #brakkesearch #brakkeconsulting

What do candidates expect in terms of speed during the application process? How can we design our own posts, applications process, and feedback loops to align with their expectations? Remember, as hiring managers and talent professionals, these days we're selling as much as we're buying. Here's a 3-minute video highlighting some recent research results. #brakkesearch #brakkeconsulting #recruiter #animalhealth #pethealth #livestock #veterinarymedicine #applicationsprocess #hiringmanager #talentprofessional #feedbackloop #speedofresponse

Calling, Connection, Contribution, and Control. Mnemonics for what team members want from a role/job/career. While that's mostly intuitive, this article explains how a JOB DESCRIPTION can impart that and set the stage for powerful and lasting employee engagement. Granted, a good JD should be short and sweet. That's hardly compatible with portraying these inspirational job/career facets. I propose that these "4 C's" should be in the application process somewhere. Prominently at that! During the interview, certainly during an onsite, and even in team member testimonials. Get those attractive emotions flowing! You'll be planting the seeds for a long, productive, and mutually rewarding career path for team members. https://lnkd.in/gaC6FTda #animalhealth #pethealth #livestock #recruiter #brakkeconsulting #brakkesearch #veterinarymedicine #employeemotivation #jobdescription #employeeretention #employeedevelopment #careerdevelopment #jobdescription #interviewprocess

Though I'm not a huge fan of ATS, here is a list compiled by my helpful colleague Lucy Walters at Pharmiweb. Perhaps you feel compelled to implement and use one. Granted. If you do, be sure that a) it's EASY TO USE and does not require re-entering data supposed to have been extracted from a resume, and b) it keeps in touch with your candidates. Nothing more frustrating to candidates than feeling ignored or ghosted! That's one of the best arguments to use a recruiter. We can simplify the application process to its bare minimum. And we are adept at follow-up and keeping candidates apprised. (We're also better at prioritizing candidates and weeding out the chaff.) https://lnkd.in/e-3mFUHu #Pharmiweb #ATS #applicanttrackingsystem #recruiting #recruiter #animalhealth #pethealth #livestock #veterinarymedicine #candidatequalification #candidatefeedback #feedback #LucyWalters

Vivid and nearly catastrophic reminder of culture. A colleague was enthusiastically anticipating an exciting job offer. He, the American, met with the hiring manager, a German, who'd flown to the US specifically for a final interview. After a lengthy period of acquaintance and familiarity, hey agreed to terms. Great! Here's the wrinkle. The American interpreted the terms as salary plus bonus equals total. X + Y = Z. The German's offer, apparently customary there, was total comp is comprised of salary plus bonus. X = A + B. The X's were the same number, so you can imagine the disorientation and confusion that ensued. Even the best-prepared, best-intentioned professionals can miss a subtle detail. Fortunately, all were professional and experienced enough, good negotiators, that a revised offer was made and accepted. The importance of culture! These differences can be based on nationality, gender, age/generation, etc. Don't take them for granted! This story has a happy ending. As you negotiate, do your best to confirm yours will too! #animalhealth #pethealth #livestock #veterinarymedicine #negotiations #compensation #culture #culturalnorms #culturaldifferences #brakkeconsulting #brakkesearch #recruiter
