Yesterday, we were thrilled to attend the YMCA Healthy Seniors Day event in Roxbury. It was an amazing event filled with good food, raffles, dancing, and plenty of health and wellness resources for older adults. Thank you to the Roxbury YMCA and the MA Behavioral Health Help Line for hosting this event, and thank you to everyone who stopped by our booth! We had an amazing time meeting local residents and connecting with the Roxbury community. #YMCAHealthySeniorsDay #CommunityEvent #HealthResources #WellnessFair #LocalCommunity #HealthyLiving #SeniorHealth

At the end of June, Franklin Field apartments was delighted to receive a visit from the Project Health Van by CVS Health. Over 20 of our supportive housing residents received a free health screening from the comfort of their own neighborhood. As people age, it becomes more important than ever for them to monitor their overall health. We appreciate the Project Health Van for this opportunity to improve accessibility to healthcare and help our residents take control of their personal wellbeing! #ProjectHealthVan #CVSHealth #SupportiveHousing #CommunityHealth #HealthcareAccess #HealthyLiving

Feel the beat! From May to June, Bellflower Apartments held Creative Connections Dance Classes, introducing residents of all mobility ranges to different dance styles such as salsa, pop, and line dancing. Through movement that transcended words, residents delighted in dancing with new friends. Thank you to the LBFE Boston: Little Brothers - Friends of the Elderly and our instructor Aaron for hosting this class! Together, we helped our older adults stay fit and deepen their bonds as a community. #DanceClasses #ElderlyFitness #CommunityBonding #DanceForAll #InclusiveMovement

On #IndependenceDay, we commemorate the adoption of the Declaration of Independence, formalizing the thirteen colonies’ decision to pursue independence from British rule. This day marks the beginning of the United States of America and commemorates all that our nation stands for: life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Independence is a natural right for people of all ages and lifestyles. That’s why Boston Senior Home Care works to build a supportive network of community and home-based resources, championing the right of older adults and people with disabilities to age independently at home. With Boston’s historical role in the American Revolution, the 4th of July is certainly a time for great national pride and celebration. We encourage you to enjoy the citywide festivities, such as the dramatic reading of the Declaration at the Old State House and the annual Boston Pops Fireworks Spectacular on the Esplanade. Have a happy #4thOfJuly! #IndependentAging #CommunityCelebration #FourthOfJuly #NationalPride

Did you know that the first Disability Pride celebration was held in Boston in 1990? Nowadays, we celebrate the entire month of July as #DisabilityPrideMonth, commemorating the passing of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and honoring the history, achievements, and identities of the disability community. Disability Pride Month challenges the negative stigma around disabilities, raises awareness around accessibility, and encourages people with disabilities to speak about their experiences and hopes. This year’s theme is “We Want a Life Like Yours,” reflecting the disability community’s dreams for life experiences that are often inaccessible. In honor of Disability Pride Month, the City of Boston will be holding an ADA Day Celebration in City Hall Plaza on July 17th from 12 PM to 2 PM. All members of the public are welcome to attend and enjoy the speaking program, food, fun, music, and disability resource fair. We hope you can join the festivities! #DisabilityPride #BostonEvents #AccessibilityMatters #InclusionForAll #CelebrateDiversity #DisabilityRights #BostonCommunity

Happy #Juneteenth from our Supportive Housing buildings! Throughout the month of June, residents have been enjoying barbecues, raffles, magic shows, and other festivities to celebrate the anniversary of the emancipation of African Americans and celebrate African American culture and contributions. Parties were held at Lower Mills, Codman Square, Peabody Englewood, and Franklin Field apartment buildings. Thank you to all of our residents for attending, and to all of our community partners who contributed time, effort, and resources to make these parties truly spectacular. Even after June ends, we hope the spirit of freedom, unity, and acceptance represented by Juneteenth continue to reverberate throughout the year. #JuneteenthCelebration #SupportiveHousing #AfricanAmericanCulture #CelebratingFreedom #JuneteenthSpirit #CommunityUnity

July is National Sandwich Generation Month, where we celebrate the hardworking adults who care for both their aging parents and children. “Sandwiched” between two generations, these caregivers often face considerable stress in balancing schedules, energy, and emotions every day. At Boston Senior Home Care, we recognize the intense effort that sandwich caregivers put forth every day to ensure that their families are happy and healthy. That’s why we offer our Caregiver Solutions program, acting as an open ear and helping hand for sandwich generation caregivers. To all of our sandwich generation caregivers, thank you for all of your selflessness and strength! #CaregiverAppreciation #FamilyCaregiving #NationalSandwichGenerationMonth #SandwichGeneration #CaregiverStrength #CaregiverSupport
