BNSF’s General Director Public Affairs Lena Kent, right, was proud to participate in this week’s groundbreaking in Long Beach, California for the Pier B On-Dock Rail Support Facility, a $1.567 billion investment that will enhance goods movement by rail at the Port of Long Beach.   Construction will begin this summer to expand rail storage capacity, accommodate more trains and reduce emissions.   Rail is the most environmentally preferred mode of surface transportation and carries one-third of the nation’s freight while reducing emissions, saving fuel and relieving highway congestion.   Learn more at: https://lnkd.in/eEvZGEZz   With Kent in photo are, from left, Lupe Valdez of Union Pacific and Dr. Noel Hacegaba of Port of Long Beach.   #portoflongbeach #polb #rail #freight #intermodal

🦺🦺🦺 SAFETY STARS!  🦺🦺🦺 In the robust landscapes and diverse climates of the Pacific Northwest, a BNSF team stands out for their unwavering commitment to safety: the transportation team for our Northwest Division’s southern segment. This tight-knit group of 200-plus railroaders has achieved an extraordinary series of consecutive injury-free periods this year, thanks to their teamwork and safety culture. Some have independently achieved three-plus years, and the Bend, Oregon, team has gone more than 14 years injury-free. Congrats to this team for your safety accomplishments! #freight #safetyculture #PNW

At this year's Midwest Regional and Short Line Railroads annual conference, Minnesota State Senator Jordan Rasmusson and Minnesota Regional Railroad Association Executive Director Amber Backhaus presented on the 2024 Minnesota legislative session, with BNSF's Executive Director of Public Affairs, Lydia Underdahl, serving as moderator. BNSF is a proud member of the Minnesota Regional Railroads association, which represents Minnesota’s four Class I and 14 Regional and Short Line railroads before policymakers. This panel, along with BNSF's partnership with the Association, exemplifies the rail industry's ongoing efforts to educate policymakers and community leaders on the vital role railroads play in powering America's economy.
