This tight-knit group of 200-plus railroaders has achieved an extraordinary series of consecutive injury-free periods this year, thanks to their teamwork and safety culture. Some have independently achieved three-plus years, and the Bend, Oregon, team has gone more than 14 years injury-free. At this year's Midwest Regional and Short Line Railroads annual conference, Minnesota State Senator Jordan Rasmusson and Minnesota Regional Railroad Association Executive Director Amber Backhaus presented on the 2024 Minnesota legislative session, with BNSF's Executive Director of Public Affairs, Lydia Underdahl, serving as moderator. BNSF is a proud member of the Minnesota Regional Railroads association, which represents Minnesota’s four Class I and 14 Regional and Short Line railroads before policymakers.
