🌊🌍 At Biosfera GT, we are on a mission to clean up our rivers, water bodies, and ecosystems from plastic pollution. In 2022, we extracted a staggering 800,000 pounds of waste from the Las Vacas River. But the fight doesn't stop there! In 2024, we received a whopping 3.1 million pounds of waste from the same river. 💡 Did you know? From this waste, we're able to reuse 10%, but only 2% is transformed it into plastic lumber through recycling processes. ♻️ This not only helps reduce plastic pollution but also creates 34 full- time jobs making it a sustainable solutions for our communities. 🙌 But we can't do it alone. Biosfera GT se complace en ser parte del cambio. El día viernes 12 de julio realizó una capacitación acerca de la gestión integral de residuos y desechos sólidos a más de 750 estudiantes de la Escuela Normal Central Para Varones. Felicitamos a esta institución educativa por integrarse a la ruta del reciclaje de Biosfera GT, como parte del proyecto Limpiemos Nuestra Guatemala liderado por Fundación Azteca Guatemala, quienes colocaron contenedores para la separación y un punto de acopio de materiales reciclables. Esperamos que más instituciones se sumen a hacer cambios en beneficio del ambiente. ¡Juntos podemos crear un mayor impacto!
Estamos emocionados de anunciar que los contenedores hechos con plástico 100% reciclado del Río de las Vacas en Guatemala, ahora forman parte del programa de reciclaje en Plantel Azteca Guatemala, ubicado en la Escuela Normal Central para Varones del Ministerio de Educación. Nuestro objetivo es educar a los estudiantes sobre la preservación del medio ambiente y promover hábitos sostenibles en su vida cotidiana. 🌿 On May 13, we were pleased to receive the visit of the director of the Authority for the Sustainable Management of the Amatitlán Lake Basin (AMSA), Emma Diaz, and her team at BiosferaGT's facilities.
