This month we celebrate the heritage and contributions of Asian American and Pacific Islanders. To mark the occasion, Highland Brewing Company released a special rice lager, named "Xie Xie." The brew's formula was perfected at a gathering that brought Asheville AAPI community members together, including our very own VP of Human Resources, Carol Nguyễn Steen. Today’s leaders must prioritize connecting with and empowering the next generation to foster interest in the community and its future. I saw this most recently during a panel hosted by the Asheville Area Chamber for the Young Professionals of Asheville. Alongside regional players, including Pratt & Whitney and Buncombe County Government, we spoke with these future leaders about the importance of community development and collaboration. 

Our amazing VP of Human Resources, IT and Security, Carol Nguyễn Steen, was profiled in this month’s edition of Business North Carolina magazine. Carol’s natural gift for connecting with others makes her such an asset to Biltmore Farms. Our DoubleTree Asheville–Biltmore Village had the privilege of hosting MANNA Foodbank’s 22nd Annual Empty Bowls event this week. The proceeds raised from ticket sales and donations will provide meals for those in need in our community. Since its debut, Empty Bowls has allowed MANNA to provide the equivalent of 3.6 million meals across Western North Carolina. Biltmore Farms is excited to welcome five new retailers to our Biltmore Park Town Square community. Slated to open throughout the remainder of 2023, the diverse list of tenants includes beloved eateries, Taco Boy, Dolly Llama Waffle Master, and Clean Juice, and national retail brands REEDS Jewelers and Club Champion. These additions to our community contribute to the ongoing expansion and continuous evolution of Biltmore Park Town Square. “We are excited to introduce these new retailers coming to our community, which will bring even more shopping and dining experiences to our growing region,” said Ben Teague, vice president – strategic development. “As we look to the future, the growth of Biltmore Park Town Square is integral to delivering on our mission of creating a setting where people, businesses, and communities can thrive together.” Taco Boy, officially opening in late October, will become South Asheville’s neighborhood taqueria. Serving up delicious, scratch-made Mexican-inspired cuisine and drinks, Taco Boy delivers warm service in eclectic, inviting spaces. Known as having a feast for the senses, Taco Boy embraces its festive energy, tinged with salt and spice, that brings guests together for laughter and conversation. Newly opened REEDS Jewelers built a reputation for fine jewelry and watches that customers have worn for years. Striving to make every customer “feel like family” with personalized service, close attention to detail, lasting quality, and timeless style, REEDS offers an array of fine jewelry and watches that make perfect gifts for every occasion. Known for serving the community with wholesome, and organic offerings like fresh juices, smoothies, and healthy lunch options, Clean Juice reopened its doors in October. Opening later in 2023, the Dolly Llama Waffle Master menu offers a delightful array of mouthwatering waffle creations. The California-based franchise is known for its signature Bubble Waffle, OG Liege Waffles, Waffle Sticks, and refreshing milkshakes, all made with premium ice cream, fresh fruit, candy toppings, and artisanal sauces. Club Champion, opening in 2023, has grown from a regional three-studio golf club fitting business to a trusted fitting expert with locations in every major golf market worldwide. Customers can stop by the store for a tour-quality golf club fitting that will take their game to new heights. Biltmore Park Town Square is Asheville’s largest and most diverse mixed-use project, boasting 283,000 square feet of retail and restaurant space, 270,000 square feet of office space, and 196 residential dwellings. Lined with a mix of restaurants, shopping, and entertainment, the square’s vibrant, walkable setting is a shopping destination designed with community at the forefront. Biltmore Park Town Square regularly hosts events to bring together the community, from the latest movies to seasonal festivities and other special events such as the Farmers Market and Concerts in the Park series.
