BACS works to build community, engagement, and joy into all of our behavioral health services. Hedco Wellness Center in Hayward treated everyone to a delightful 4th of July BBQ feast, adding a delicious dash of togetherness to our mission. At BACS, we're dedicated to empowering our partners, encouraging them to actively participate in their community, and nurturing connections with their surroundings. These events, like the BBQ at Hedco, exemplify our commitment to fostering stability, independence, and most importantly, happiness. Together, we're building a stronger, more connected community where everyone can thrive. #Community #WhateverItTakes #Events #empowerment #BehavioralHealthCare #happy4th #joy

Huge thank you to The Boys & Girls Club of San Leandro for making blankets to keep the people BACS serves comfortable! Their mission is to inspire and enable young people to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens. Making blankets for folks who live outdoors is a great way to help kids become adults who are truly invested in their community. If you want to get involved in a similar way, or have young kids who want to start volunteering in their neighborhood, check out our Home in a Basket program! https://lnkd.in/gRvyEtu4 #boysandgirlsclubs #whateverittakes #homelessness #homeinabasket #volunteer

BACS focuses on uplifting the people we serve and helping them on their own journey, at their own pace, towards goals that are meaningful for them. For Jessica, what was meaningful for her was also meaningful for the community. This year, we were so proud to share Jessica’s major achievement: she has opened her very own transitional sober living home, called “Product of Grace,” providing housing designed to help women who are on a similar journey. Before she came to BACS, Jessica struggled with drug use, homelessness, family disconnection, and too many encounters with law enforcement for 10 years. BACS got connected to Jessica after she was arrested in 2017, with her case manager Brandy focusing on helping Jessica on her sobriety journey and locating safe housing. Now Jessica is out doing good in the community! This is what it's all about. #respect #love #whateverittakes #journey #sober #transitionalhome #women #homelessness #RestorativeJustice

Keep People Housed | Homelessness Prevention | Anti-displacement | Guaranteed Income | All views and opinions are my own
Keep People Housed served over 600 extremely vulnerable households since the moratorium ended. Many of these individuals were extremely low income, justice involved, and had past experiences of homelessness. Many had disabling conditions, lived in highly distressed zip codes, and had many indicating and predictive factors that they would fall into homelessness without financial support and care coordination. 82% of them expressed that without Keep People Housed, they would have *definitely* become unhoused. If these folks had fell into homelessness because they didn’t have the support, it could have been a *20%* increase. According to the most recent data, the City of Oakland is slowing the number of people getting pushed into homelessness — proof that investing in proven solutions, such as prevention, interim, and permanent housing is working. Oakland has been a leader in homelessness prevention, and we’re proud to support Bay Area Community Services and Keep People Housed - Oakland, which helps high-risk households pay rent. Over in Berkeley, the point-in-time count showed unsheltered homelessness has decreased by 45%, with an overall 20% decrease in homelessness. Positive change is happening in the Bay Area! ✨ https://lnkd.in/gRB6uTkj

BACS not only provides the highest-quality behavioral health and housing services, we also invest in the community by helping close the gap for people we serve. For some folks, a new set of teeth after living on the street for a decade is the difference between getting a job and not. For others, a minor car repair can help them keep their family together and housed. There are thousands of ways to do good in the neighborhood, and we share all of this transparently.
